So I'm done with the dreadful assignment that I posted about a couple months ago. Actually, it got to be much better after one of the nurses that I had the most trouble with got suspeneded (for a lot of things, I heard), which really straigtned her attitude up when she came back. Funny how one person can make your life a living hell, isn't it?

But back to my recruiter:

She is giving me assignment feels, and every one of them is right at 30/hr. Also, my agency does not offer the stipened. They only offer the free housing. They don't offer any other perks like: completion bonuses, loyalty bonuses, etc. They do offer up to $250 travel reimburssement, and $250 if I refer anyone and they complete a 13 weeks assignemnt. That's all.

At my last assignment in rural Illinois, I made 30/hr. She offered me a job in California at 30/hr, a job in Connecticut at 30/hr. Now come on. I can easily make 30/hr local. Sure, I'll have to pay my own rent, but that's besides the point. And there is a HUGE cost of living difference between rural Illinois and Greenwich CT.....yet they pay the same???

I would have to say yes from my limited experience. Depending on what location you are in I've never made that low. Plus I receive a $1000 referal bonus plus loyalty bonuses and non taxable travel reimbersement. However, I choose to pay my own housing instead of taking the company housing. This way I can maximize my tax free income.

Intersting. I am looking at a contract in Farmington Ct for 31/hour. I am living in IL and I can make that as a staff nurse. I guess part of it is the economy....they can get away with these poor pay rates.

Knowing anything about Farmington? I have never been in that direction!

I think if you work the same company on back to back contracts, they figure out what the minimum you will work for and wont budge from it!
