First Contract...

Well, I'm pretty excited, I got my first travel contract today. I'm a bit worried as the manager seemed overly excited that I was coming (and within the week...which was when she started to seem excited.) but Hopefully it will go alright! It's not too far from my last place of employment, so it isn;t a glamorous location. BUT, its a start So, thanks to those who have offerred advice and support... :wink2: :wink2: :D

Congratulations Katie!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Travel Nursing: I hope it is for all you desire and more ;)

The manager was probably SO happy because he/she will not have to work the shifts or go crazy finding someone.

Congratulations!!! :balloons:

i'd be curious to find out how you like it. i'm also going to be a first time traveler, just waiting on two places in sunny california to call me!

Hi Hollykate,

So far, it's going great! I have been surprised at how great the staff is, and how easy it was to get adjusted to the hospital. I think the key for me was that I went from a Level one Trauma Center to a really small place, so the patients I am seeing are not very complex. I do get a little ocnfused by the antiquated admissions process, but everyone seems to really want to help me out which is nice! I'm really happy about how its all working out.

Congratulations!!! :balloons:

Where in Ca? Extended my first contract into nine months, then start 200 miles away next week.

suzanne,

are you a resident of CA? or are you giving up the tax free stuff to stay that long?

i will probably go to a hospital in Anaheim, but i also got an offer from San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital in Banning. so, we'll see. i want to spend the winter somewhere warmish.

glad to hear another first timer having a good experience, because there seem to be a lot of unpleasant ones out there.

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

Sorry I am late but Congrats! :)

Not a resident of California............

But I am also not a first time traveller. Started doing this many, many years ago..............just do alot of other things in the middle of doing the travel thing.

Of course, but i was referring to Katiebell, who is the OP....she seems to be having a good time.

In the quote above, you wrote "suzanne."

I assumed you were speaking to me.

Yes, I'm still having a good time, though the hospital leaves a little to be desired...I've been asked to extend or come on permanent which I think is a good thing (Yes?? No??)

and I'm getting ready to arrange my next contract, somewhere colder (ha ha) for the winter (Pays nicely, and close to family!)
