VIP floors in hospitals?

  1. I am in my first semester of LVN school, and one of my classmates told me that there are "VIP floors" in some hospitals that cater to the rich and famous. I heard that the nurses actually don tuxedos instead of scrubs. Is this true, and if so, has anyone worked on one of these floors?

    Curious

Not VIP floors, but there are certainly hotel type suites that can be had for a pretty penny - and the nurses wear scrubs LOL

Parkland has a VIP floor of sorts, but no..no tuxes, the nurses still wear scrubs.

VIP meaning 'private insurance' for the most part...we were told it was our option if we (as employees) needed admission

And what do they get on the VIP floor at Parkland they wouldn't get otherwise?

They don't have to mingle with the "unwashed masses" LOL!

I :heartbeat Parkland by the way.

... and I don't care how much 'V' is in you 'VIP', I won't be wearing a tux like some maitre D'!

The hospital I work at just opened a new "VIP" floor. It's over 1,000 extra a night, but BEAUTIFUL. 2 large flat screen LCD TVs, nice furniture, a non-hospital looking bed, mini-fridge, 2 rooms in each "room" - living room w/ nice furniture and the pt's room. Just beautiful!
