UTHSC-Houston Fall 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:

Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75

Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0

Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.

My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -

Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30

Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! :crying2: )

Overall Gpa: 3.28

Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.

My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.

Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!

Yeah I don't think it does either. It's a&p 1 and 2, micro, and Chem 1. Okay so how many people think that we should start to hear something by this week..? Anyone, someone? Haha Ughh STRESSED OUT ON LIFE

Nutrition is not counted as a science. When I last spoke to someone at UTHSC, they told me it is the actual science classes (Chem, A&P's, & Micro). Anything else goes into pre-req GPA. Good luck everyone! Hoping that we hear back from them this week! The suspense is killing me ;)

Hey guys!

I applied to UTHSC as well. I e-mailed them a few months ago and what I got back was that we will hear April 15th (or letters will be sent out then). Anyone hear that we will hear back sooner?! I hope so!

I read through the thread some and saw that some of y'all got transcript evaluations. I haven't gotten one...should I be worried? Should I call the school about it?

I am nervous, I feel that my grades are not quite as high as everyone elses! HESI overall was a 89 with a 93 in A&P and a 750 on the Critical Thinking. GPA is around a 3.6 with my science grades all being B's.

I just realized that the 15th is on a Sunday... argh!

Well, that either means that we get letters early or late. I sure hope it's early!

@Nailpolish - I haven't received a transcript eval yet either...still, and I called about 2 weeks ago. SON Student admissions told me that they are still in the process of sending them out and there might even be an overlap between when they are sent and when acceptance/denial letters are sent. Also, when I asked, they said "there's no need to worry" that I haven't received one yet; that it's basically not reflective of an acceptance or a denial. Hope that helps!!!!!

I have not received a transcript evaluation either ... but I do admit I stalk the mail lady daily to see if it has come! :specs:

Ditto.

Same here no evaluation.

Thanks guys! Well I will let everyone know if I hear anything!

Best of luck to everyone, hopefully we will all know if we got in soon!

Hey guys, ive been following this thread for a while and just decided to join in..

I also applied for the upcoming fall, and Im really nervous about getting in. I decided very last minute to pursue nursing and inadvertently put all my eggs in one basket. So hopefully I get in.. lol I think I now have rheumatoid arthritis cuz Ive had my fingers crossed since january.. lol

By the looks of y'alls stats, this is a really competitive group. Just had one question: Are you guys posting the conversion scores?

What's a conversion score? The scores I posted are just the ones that are on my transcript from the school I currently attend. I have no yet received a transcript evaluation so if the GPAs change on that, then I do not know what my accurate GPA is!
