U.S.A. Texas

Published

It was recommended on the other page that we start a thread for TWU's Fall 2011 Dallas accepted nursing students. Here you go! Lets be cordial and get to know everyone. We are going to be doing the same thing and seeing one another for the next two years. I know I will have a lot of questions throughout this process. I think that we can help one another more than we know.

Let me start it off. Im Zeek. I am a post bac student with a degree in biology. Im originally from Louisiana.

hello kijah. tell kristo we said congrats and we look forward to seeing/meeting her in august.

Hi everyone,

Again congrats on getting accepted into TWU! Just wanted to give you guys some advice on patho, it will be a good idea if you all took patho in the summer as it will significantly lighten your load in the fall. Trust me, you'll love life a little bit more with patho out of the way. J1 will be a trying semester with pharm and patho along with your other 2 core classes. I took it the semester before I got accepted into the program back in fall 2009. I was so glad that i did that because pharm along was a killer. But if you don't, J1 is still doable...just tough. Good luck to you and welcome to the TWU nursing family! :yeah:

feel free to join our facebook group sonniiie its under the same title as this thread i believe. if not its fairly close

Hey everyone!! My name is Candace and I'll be starting at the nursing school in August! I really wanna move to Dallas, but a roommate would really be helpful as far as bills and safety are concerned. If anyone is looking for a roommate to move close to the nursing school/dallas area, send me a message!

I'm a clean, friendly person and will be spending the majority of my time engrossed in my studies for the next 2 years.

Anyway, please let me know if any of you guys are interested :)

Does anyone have more information on the weekend nursing program and how difficult it is?

Hi All,

Congrats on getting into the program! I am a TWU hopeful and will be applying for Fall 2012. Do you guys have any advice for me? How did you guys study for the TEAS? What were your gpas like? Currently I have a 3.867 with micro and a few other courses left and I am a little nervous about it since I got a B in A&P I. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much! and Congrats again! :)

Hi All,

Congrats on getting into the program! I am a TWU hopeful and will be applying for Fall 2012. Do you guys have any advice for me? How did you guys study for the TEAS? What were your gpas like? My biggest piece of advice is don't freak out, (because I know I did). I was accepted for the Fall 2011 and my GPA was only 3.7 (while many had a 4.0). I also got a B in Micro AND A&P I (very high B's, but B's nevertheless). So I was CONVINCED I wasn't getting in. However, I went in to take the TEAS and scored somewhere in the 90's, which put me at the 99th percentile as far as the testing was concerned. So that was extremely helpful. From what I know from talking to other students that got in, none of them thought they would get accepted either.

I used a general study aid for the TEAS test (that included help studying for other nursing entrance exams as well). Honestly, I barely studied at all and I really didn't find it all that difficult. However, if standardized testing isn't "your thing", doing a bunch of the practice problems in any TEAS study book would probably be really helpful.

Just remember to BREATHE. All you can do is the best you can do :)

GOOD LUCK!
