Texas Tech Traditional BSN Fall 2012

U.S.A. Texas

I'm totally new to this and I am amazed at all the information this web site provides! Is anyone else on here going to be applying for the TTU Traditional Nursing Program for the Fall 2012 semester? Also, I need to take intro to nursing and pathophysiology this Spring. Is it best just to take it at Tech? Any input would be most helpful! :D

Nice! I am currently kicking myself for not working on patho at all over spring break! Wish I had at least done extra work in the modules or done the next quiz. If I don't get in, I will also be going for my CNA to gain more experience. When NursingCAS calculated my GPA from all 3 of my schools it totalled a 3.6. I don't have a medical volunteer history, but have done lots of other work and am hoping it, plus my grades will make up for that. How did you do on your GPA?

Oh my gosh me too! This week is kicking my butt with the concept map and 2 quizzes! Yeah I think that there is a lot of work out there that could be applicable, not just medical work history! My GPA totaled up to a 3.94. I'm finishing up my associate's this semester at Western Texas College and because I cannot get my butt into gear with these last few classes for my AS degree, it may drop just a little :p. So far so good, but I'm having to seriously push myself. I'm just ready to start, you know? I'm excited to meet everyone!

Omg!! Yall are scaring me with your super good GPA's! I only have a 3.4, and everybody else has like over a 3.6! If any thing that will definently hurt me:'( I have heard though that tech looks alot at volunteer work, references, essay, and work experience. So I hope that will help me out:-D im so nervous the closer it gets the more nervous I get!... Every email that comes to my ttu mail I freak out thinking it is an decline letter. Does anyone know how much sooner they send out the declines compared to the acceptances?

Congrats on a fabulous GPA, C.J.! I had a 4.0 for my first 2 years of college and cried the first time I got a 'B' lol. Probably shouldn't have left all my biology class till the end... Why is it always the last few classes that are the hardest? Anywho, I know exactly what you mean! Were at the edge of the precipice and ready to leap! I can't wait to find out the new group of SON entry students, hopefully that will include myself, those I've met through classes, and online. Haha.

248bwhite, don't even think on it! Grades are not everything. You have a great balance of academic, volunteer, plus references. Too much academic isn't necessarily a good thing. I cleaned out my inbox today; making way for V.I.P e-mails!

BTW, I heard it through the grapvine that an acceptance letter and e-mail went out! Looks like the wave is starting? :bowingpur

248bwhite, LittleMissRedRaider is totally right! Tech treats students holistically :). It ain't over until the fat lady sings if I were on the admissions board, I would totally rather have somebody with work experience over a perfect GPA! I have faith in ya!

Thank you LittleMissRedRaider! I know I made a B in statistics and I was happy with that LOL. That and economics are the only B grades I have. I know I really want to go to Lubbock and meet everyone, even though I'm not going to be on that campus!

What?! Really?! Ooooooh wow! What grapevine did you hear that from?! I am definitely excited now! That made my day :w00t:

I called a few weeks ago and one coordinators told me that the admissions committee was meeting this month and we should start receiving acceptance letters at the end of April. I would love to hear sooner so hopefully what you heard is true.

Also, does anyone know if we are allowed to take summer classes as a traditional undergraduate? I know that the rn-bsn has people admitted during the summer but I wasn't sure if we have the option of summer courses to speed up graduation.

I wasn't subscribed to this thread for some reason. I have **** for patho as well! My intro teacher is *****!

Hdoty I heard the exact same thing about it being Late April via email. It would be a pleasant surprise to find out sooner! I don't know exactly....I know that on the website it does say that it must be completed in 4 semesters, but it doesn't say how long as far as summers go. I have **** for pathophysiology and **** for Intro.

C.J. - I made a B in statistics too; loved that class! But I had a really good teacher. All together I have 4 B's and 1 C (MAJORLY boohooed!).

Long story short, I have a friend in an online class, who has a friend that applied to the SON program. She text me yesterday and said her friend got an e-mail and acceptance letter! I fully expect the letters to come in waves and continue till the end of April.

hdoty - That's alright! Also, as for taking classes in the summer I was wondering the same thing too. But am starting to think its not an option? But don't know for sure.

Well if that is the case I want them to tell me now!! LOL Put me out of my misery.

So I just spoke with *****, one of the coordinators, about summer courses and she informed me that the Lubbock and Odessa campus have the option of taking an elective during the summer between their junior and senior courses. The Abilene campus goes full time in the summer so if you were to start in Abilene this fall you would go fall, spring, summer, fall (think that's what she said)!

So excited because I applied for Abilene!

LittleMissRedRaider, I wasn't too fond of my teacher and it didn't help that it was ONLINE lol. I'm still taking gov right now, and of course the nursing classes, and that is it. Oh wow ok! I'm excited about it now! That totally makes sense. I feel like I'm expecting a newborn baby or something....it can arrive any minute haha! hdoty, that's great! I applied to the Odessa campus so I would like to take an elective :). I almost applied to Abilene (my family is from a town near there) but decided I'd rather be in Odessa because I have a part-time job with the hospital in Midland. I wonder if any other schools in Texas have began accepting yet?

LOL! Y'all are a hoot! Yes, it would be nice if they just decided ALL at once and put us ALL out of our misery! Glad the summer classes worked out for you, hdoty. I'll be thinking about the elective.

C.J. - I hate when stuff like that happens! My first anatomy teacher was like a cheese grater to the face. She didn't like me and was NOT interested in helping me one bit. Online classes like statistics can be hard; I took mine over the summer of 2010, it was a MTWT class. The lights to the building went off 3 times during the semester due to thunderstorms and it was glorious, haha.

I am 21 with no children, but can imagine and agree the excitement level is about the same as getting into nursing school lol! Dunno about any other schools acceptance letters, but according to NursingCAS their deadlines were the same, so the timeline may be about the same as ours.
