Texas Tech Traditional BSN Fall 2012

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I'm totally new to this and I am amazed at all the information this web site provides! Is anyone else on here going to be applying for the TTU Traditional Nursing Program for the Fall 2012 semester? Also, I need to take intro to nursing and pathophysiology this Spring. Is it best just to take it at Tech? Any input would be most helpful! :D

Nope, but I am glad you brought that up! When did you e-submit your application? Was it early? I submitted on January 19th, my transcripts went out on the 20th/23rd and were listed as received on the 26th. After reading other postings about how slow their processing can be (5 weeks!), I thought I was dead in the water... But it seems to have all worked out! So I had been wondering if other's GPA had been calculated, but maybe NursingCAS won't update till sometime after tonight's deadline and all applications are in? Or just not at all...? I'll be checking it daily till anything changes!

I got my GPA calculations in today. I would say that it took about 2 weeks to process after I recieved all my transcripts. I am so anxious! I just read some information saying that the status for the application will take up to 6-8 weeks after deadline but I know that I have read on here that it will take until late April early May?... IM SOOO NERVOUS! Does any one else have a plan B if they dont get accepted?

THANKS

248bwhite, I am finally not feeling so anxious! Guess its knowing I can't do anything to improve or change until a decision is made. So you sent your transcripts around January 20th, like me? Just checked and my GPA still hasn't been posted... Yesterday was the 2 week marker :/ Not giving up yet, mine are somewhat complicated, so it could take a little while longer. I only suggest late April/early May on the basis of other postings by previous TTU SON students.

As for having a 'Plan B', as in back up program? No. However, if I don't get an acceptance letter I know what I'll be doing this fall in order to come back stronger the next application opening. What about you? Any backup plans?

I do not have any back up plans :-(... I was thinking about taking more classes to improve my GPA. I might have to move back to were im from. I am just hoping I get in because I am more than ready to start my career! Im not feeling as anxious anymore either because everything is kind of out of my hands now.

That makes two of us! I am so ready to be settled in my career. My backup would be re-taking A&P I, my teacher was extremely unhelpful and I couldn't get a handle on my work, it was my first and only 'C'. Then try and gain some better experience, I thought about looking into becoming a CNA. It'd score me both kudos and cash.

You have a 3.4 GPA, plus appropriate volunteer work (mine isn't medical), so I don't believe you shouldn't worried any more than myself or anyone else really. Your work seems well balanced and not one sided. We've both got a good chance!

So I just got my GPA posted on NursingCAS and went to double check the program requirements (force habit)... Have all of you taken the TEAS Exam?? When was it posted as a requirement?? I do NOT remember seeing that the last time I checked the site only a couple of weeks ago, and am going to feel so STUPID if that is why I am rejected! Is it only for those applying for the spring of 2013? I sincerely hope so, because I haven't taken the exam... Extremely confused and discouraged :(

*UPDATE* The new exam requirement is for the NEXT application period, not this one (Sheew!)! All the more reason to hope for acceptance the first time around!

I called before I transferred to Tech and was told that acceptance is not decided until April. So I think we can expect to wait until April-May. I applied to the Abilene campus and I am currently taking the online patho and intro courses. I didn't have much experience but I did fill out the whole application not knowing that it wasn't required! lol. Good luck everyone :)

Welcome hdoty! That's awesome you filled out the whole thing, sounds like you will most certainly be a easy choice! :)

Btw, who are you teachers? I am in both of those classes online too! Intro teacher is Ms. Thomas and Patho is Ms. Kineman.

Good luck!

Hi everyone!

At first I was hesitant to make an account so I could just read all the comments and suffer through this nursing school process alone (lol), but I am so glad to know there are people just like me on the edge and anxious and waiting.

April/May seems soo far away :(

Also, the TEAS is not required for TTU SON

and just as long as your CAS application is complete before the deadline Feb. 1, 2012, you're fine.

TTUekaye,

Yes I feel your anxiety! April/May seems like forever! I am very excited to know my status... I have been checking it everyday. I am just so ready to get my career going. I have a pretty good GPA, I wrote an essay, 2 references, work experience, and volunteer work from Covenant in the emergency room. So I am hoping that all of that has given me a chance to be accepted!! I definently dont have the highest GPA that I have seen on here but I still feel like I have a fair chance. I have a 3.4 overall and a 3.4 in my science classes also, not the best but if the lowest to be considered is a 2.5 then I think with the rest of my extras I should be ok. However it doesnt take the anxiety away... you always have that thought in the back of your head " What if i didnt do enough".

Well good luck to you!!!

LittleMissRedRaider, I actually was told that the essay section of the nursing application was considered the interview, and that they look at the student as a whole and not just their GPA's. It sounds like we all have a lot to offer! Best of wishes and luck to all! :)

TTUekaye, I think we ALL could use a support system right now! It is pretty stressful to sit and play the waiting game, so we might as well all do it together! Hehehe! :) Good luck and I wish the best for all!
