Aloha! Ok I went for their info session yesterday, it was really nice to hear what they ve to say. The cost of the Rn program is't bad at all....secondly, they taljed about the flexibility of the program which was of a great intrest to me.I plan on taking the Hesi by May 18th. Anyone currently going to this sch? And what are your experiences so far....since it's a new program? What do I expect from the hesi exam? Please feel free to give ur opinions. It'll be gladly appreciated!

We have an ITT Tech in MA but I don't think they offer nursing. Double check and make sure it is an accredited school so that you will be able to sit for the NCLEX. A friends went for the computer aid drafting and liked the school. Good luck! :D

I would be very wary of an ITT nursing degree. Their programs are usually not accredited. Plus I've read countless threads of students who spent lots of money (WAY more than a regular university program) to go to ITT because there's no waiting list and they ended up getting their degree withheld because they could not pass the NCLEX. Also, many employers will not hire ITT grads due to their lack of training.

So, be careful what you wish for. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!

I second what SopranoKris said. Most aren't CCNE or NLNAC accredited, several have bad reputations for low NCLEX pass rates as well as being a complete rip-off in price (there's a reason they are referred to as a for-profit school). I'd steer clear... or at the very least, do lots of homework on it before you commit.

ITT nursing programs are not regionally or CCNE or NLNAC accredited. The credits will not transfer anywhere, sometimes not even to another ITT campus. The degrees are substandard and not even recognized by most employers, ITT cannot retain good instructors or program directors because of their fraudulent practices and they have zillions of lawsuits and investigations going on right now.

Their tuition is round $25,000 for one academic year which is three quarters. They operate by getting students on Federal student financial aid, Pell grant and Stafford loans, although these will in no way cover the full cost so at some point you will have to take out some high-interest private loans. As well, your loan aggregate amount for an independent student is $57,500 while a Bachelor degree cost is $95,000. You will have to either get private loans or pay cash to cover the difference.

ITT has been and is currently embroiled in many lawsuits and investigations by the Department of Justice, the Department of Education, the SEC, the Governmental Accountability Office, as well as many former employees and students for fraud.

Good luck on your entrance exam!! I am graduating from the Breckinridge School of Nursing, Merrillville IN this June!!

I have loved my school, my instructors, and the Nursing Chair. They are great and have a wealth of experience! The hesi will have English and Math. You should try to get the Hesi A2 entrance exam booklet to study from. Know how to change unit's in math from grams, to milligrams, to micrograms, and kilograms to pounds and back again, also F to C.

For ANY nursing program to be able to open their doors they HAVE to be accredited by the state board of nursing. As long as they are accredited by the State BON then the graduates of that nursing program CAN and WILL be eligible to take the NCLEX boards.

They cant "hold" your degree if you cant pass the boards because you HAVE to have your degree before your eligible for the boards.

They do, however, have the HESI Exit exam that you MUST pass to be eligible for passing your last class, Nursing Roles II. It is PART of your class and if you fail the exam then you dont PASS the class and therefore you are not eligible for the boards. Its like any class, if you dont pass the class you cant move forward. The Exit HESI is suppose to be harder than the NCLEX, so if you cant pass the HESI then you probably wont pass the boards bringing the school's pass rate down and jeopardizing their standing with NLNAC.

If the student FAILs the exit Hesi then the student must remediate and retake Med Surg II, Pharm, and NSG Fundamentals at no extra cost to the student. This is done to further strengthen the student's ability of basic knowledge and give them the best chance at passing the boards when they do satisfy their requirements to sit for the NCLEX.

Also you are wrong about employers not hiring ITT grads. There have been 4 graduating classes at the school I attend, and 2 of the classes all have positions that have been offered to them from the area hospitals, one is working at one of universities in Chicago, and another has a position where the company is sending the nurse back to school so she can get her wound/ostomy care accreditation. There is NO lack of training, we get the same amount of clinical experience as every other nursing program.

(ALL new programs that start have to prove themselves and have the 1st graduating class before they can apply for accreditation! They ALL have the STATE Board of Nursing accreditation and the graduates ARE eligible to sit for the boards.)

(The credit's do transfer and many times if you are a licensed registered nurse you can then further your education through the RN to BSN or RN to MSN programs available. Everyone from our school that has sat for NCLEX and passed their boards all have jobs in area hospitals, home health, and hospice. No ONE as been turned away just because they went to school at ITT Tech. The ZILLION's of lawsuits you speak of are one outdated and two does not apply to the Breckinridge School of Nursing @ ITT Tech.)

(I dont know anyone that had to take out private loans to help cover the difference, there are also scholarships available to most students)

Believe what you will, but I've read an overwhelming amount of negative things about ITT's nursing program. The cost is absolutely ridiculous. Most of the people who go to these schools do so because they can't get accepted into an established program or are looking for a quick way to get done. I was almost rooked in to going to this so-called school because of the lure of no waiting list, no admissions standards (other than an easy exam). The "academic advisors" (aka salespersons) put so much pressure on me to spend 6 times the amount of the same education at a large, well-know state university. So, go ahead and go into debt for substandard training. Be my guest. Best of luck to you. We'll just see who goes on to a career further down the road. Good luck ever trying to get in to a graduate program!

Itt Tech Institute Breckenridge School of Nursing program is utterly ridiculous. They are luring uneducated optimistic people in daily . People need to wake up and smell the coffee because debt shouldn't be an option period.
