Is there anyone planning to apply for the Fall 2014 ADN program at HCC Coleman??

Nubian, when did you take Pharm? I heard that you have to study very very hard for that class, so how did you study for tests? It does require a lot of critical thinking, too right; or is it just too much knowledge that's difficult? Do you, by any chance, still keep the notes of that class?

I plan to buy the book this weekend when I go to school for the CPR class.

- About the permission code, I have been checking my e-mail 10000 times a day. But according to the lady, some of us should get it by today or tomorrow. I hope we all could get in.

Thanks guys for all the info! :-)

Ugghh.. I just wanna know already!

nhpl, how you doin'? i took pharm in the spring of 2012. YES AND YES, you have to study very very very hard for pharm. most of the questions are critical thinking so you will need to develop that department bcoz too much knowledge without it wont be of any use. about the notes, im afraid i dont think i still do bcoz ive passed em around to quite a number of people i didn't bother to check with the very last one that used em. i still do, however, have the book but im just not sure if the edition is still the same. it's wise to use the needed edition bcoz in the nursing department...especially during test time, it MATTERS A LOT! you can study an older version ahead of time but you will need to get with the program. i wish you luck. oh and yeah, memorize what you study in pharm bcoz it follows you throughout the classes awaiting. you wont just need a CPR card btw, make sure you are getting the "HEALTHCARE PROVIDER (CPR and AED) card. it must say healthcare provider otherwise your "just CPR" card might do you no good; meaning that before you start the real nursing classes, you might start with your friends but wont be allowed to go to clinicals without it...and this might have you being dropped out of the program bcoz you MUST be ready for anything especially when it involves someone's life. you can do it. you alllll can. g'luck!!! :-)

Just out of curiosity, what hospital does clinicals take place at?

Thanks Nubian sooooo much!!!! I need to know everything that I could. About the CPR, I don't know what they will give me yet. I will take the class this friday at HCC, so I know I will get exactly what HCC requires. Thanks again!!

@ljchu : I want to know that too.

When do we have to have CPR by? And has anyone gotten their email yet??

nhpl, you're more than welcome honey. about that cpr certificate, trust me, i took it at HCC but when it came to clinicals times, i nearly missed the opportunity had my instructor not crosschecked her student's records. i was able to find an agency that offers that healthcare provider cpr/first aid/ certificate 2 DAYS before clinicals started. not everything HCC is HCC - Nursing. if anything, the middle C stands for Houston COLEMAN college. good luck. and about the person that asked about the clinicals, you will just choose a number (like a CRN number for classes) and surprise, that's when you'll see what hospital or nursing home you'll attend. and you cannot switch unless you show extreme difficulty.

I called and they said it could be the 30th before we find out.

The suspense is killing us all. Thanks for sharing that with us!

Hi guys I also applied for fall 2014 I have a 3.5GPA and I scored an 84.5 on my hesi. Hopefully I get an email today,I'm really nervous..

Just out of curiosity, what is everyone planning to do after completing the ADN program at HCC? Almost all the major hospitals in the med center will only hire BSN nurses. The only hospital I know that still hires ADN nurses are memorial hermann and texas children. Any thoughts?

OMG, I just went to the school to check and we should receive emails with permission codes by this evening!
