Is anyone out there attending a nursing program at either Grayson County College or Paris Junior College? If so, what was the GPA that got you accepted? Thanks in advance to anyone who would be kind enough to respond.

I graduated from there. To get into the RN program, I had about a 3.4

Which school did you attend? Paris? Or Grayson?

Also, how long ago was this? Thanks!

Thanks for your response. Which school did you attend (Paris, or Grayson)?

And, how long ago was this?

I will be graduating from Grayson next week. I started the nursing program in August 2005. They don't go by GPA to get into the RN program, but by points. 2 years ago we needed 22 points to get in, but now I have heard it went up to 25. You get 3 points for an A in each science class and each lab, 2 for a B etc., 1 point for each completed pre-requisite and 1-3 points for a entrance HESI. They don't have a waiting list. In the first semester half of my class was from the Plano/Dallas area.

Paris here. I just got my lvn license last year in June. I graduated May 06. They also go by points. The maximum points is 100pts. We didn't have the hesi entrance exam for our lvn program. But if I get accepted into their RN program, I have to have the Hesi exit exam before I can ever take the nclex-rn. What I liked about that school is you can get your lvn license first, and if you decide to continue on to the RN program, it's your choice. Some of us continued on and some of us took a break to get over the stress, burnout, and to earn a little money. ro

Do you plan on entering as a LVN transition student or as a "generic student"?

I entered as a LVN transition student at Grayson last spring and will graduate on Friday - I can tell you that I do not have a high GPA. My grades in LVN school were excellent, but all of my pre-reqs were B's and C's - I had C's in A&P I and II. I don't want to give the wrong info, but the rumor was there were about 80 applicants for 35 spots in the transition program.

Let me know if you have questions. I can give more details.

I have my LVN license, so my current plan is to apply as an LVN transition student.

How long ago did you get accepted into their program? Thank you so very much for your reply!

I got into the program on my first try. I started this process back in Fall 2005, not sure what the process is now. I want to say our apps were due in Oct, they notified us mid November and I started Spring semester of 2006 and will finish May 2007. It is a total of 3 semesters.
