I would guess that most people have naturally negative feelings when you think about being fingerprinting--we have been sensitized by TV that the whole process is connoted with being arrested, right?

I don't view this as an invastion of privacy though. Asking about my sex life or my financial records an invasion of privacy. Heck, we all leave fingerprints all over the place so I guess they can't be too private (LOL)!

Unfortunately we live in a time of criminals, thiefs, and psychopaths. Some are even nurses, doctors, lawyers and politicians! THe patients who entrust their lives when they are most vulnerable into the hands of the medical community deserve some sense of confidence that we are who we say we are, and that we do indeed posess the required credentials.

Yep I read the thread, and I actually was on here very early on.

Obviously you don't get the connection between unions and losing your right to privacy by giving your fingerprints to the state.

Read some history...start with WW II then move on to Stalin and fascism. When you give up your freedoms incrementally, you lose and the state wins. Figure it out. I did not live to be a grandma without learning my history. You should pay attention to world events, which I know is hard when you are working and exhausted and have small kids to raise, or are a new grad, and it's all stressful. That's what we grannies are for. We went before you, and we have seen a lot of stuff. I hope to encourage critical thinking in those few minutes of relaxation that you might have.

You can't think of any way to make your point without over the top hyperbole about fascism?

Oh yeah, I can see the connection between public safety and lining up and shooting innocent people.

You've violated Godwin's Law of Nazi Analogies, btw. Referencing Hitler, Nazis, or, in your case, fascists to make your point is roundly considered to be an intellectually lazy means of unfairly painting the opposite viewpoint as yours with a morally repugnant brush.

In internet circles, it means you lose whatever debate you used Nazis to support.
