El Centro / North Lake - what is going on??

U.S.A. Texas

Has anyone else noticed that the NCLEX pass rates for El Centro College dropped from 94% in 2009 to 86% in 2010? And they were all above 94% the four years before that! This semester some of us are having all sorts of trouble figuring out what in the world is going on with our clinicals, and last semester had to be reshuffled as well. I don't know what's going on, but whatever it is, I think that it's affecting our NCLEX pass rates.

The NCLEX was made more difficult in April of this year. However, I do think the disorganization of the program, lack of concern/care of the students and having to learn the material all on your own has a lot to do with it. I haven't taken my NCLEX yet, but most people are passing right now.

Yeah, I'm just disgusted at this point. The BS they are dishing this semester is unbelievable. I am wondering if I need to lawyer up, LOL! I'd say more but I'm afraid of being identified and singled out. ;) Oh well. Congratulations to you, for making it to the end!

I know it's easy to get discouraged but keep your head up, the reward is great in the end. Out of the craziness, I do think it will make me a better nurse. Our motto was, if we can handle ECC, we can handle anything. There are a handful of wonderful instructors who really care about the students and that made it all worth it. Stay as organized as you can and be prepared for them to throw stuff at you and just make it to the end. It's such a short period of time that will benefit your whole future.
