Any applicants out there for COM Fall 2012?

Patho isn't part of the program. It is a pre-req for many BSN programs though.

Ok I didnt think so... I know if your going straight for a bachelors it is requied, but for UT arlington and UTMB you dont need it for the transition.

UTMB is rumored to have it required starting next fall (as per a few of mg friends who go there). We will see though. I know Texas Tech and A&M are requiring it now. I took patho. It's been so helpful in diagnosis for health assessment.

@Kran1990- You say your PE transferred?? What class did you take? was it at san jac?? what is the course number at san jac? i was so sure I took the right one :/

I am pretty sure it did. She put it on my EDP that I had finished my PE class. I took exercise for health and fitness. I took it at San jac, Phed 1119.

I will also be applying to the COM nursing program for the Fall, but i am unclear on how the immunizations work. What all do you have to have done before you apply?

No, you just have to have them all done by the first day of classes. Hep B has to be started by the application deadline. However since the application deadline was moved back, they sent an email out telling everyone to get started on their vaccinations incase they were accepted into the program.

Hi all

I know that you must be done with all developmental maths before getting accepted to the program. I am currently in 0320 and will be done with it may 10th. I have almost all of my sciences done with around 75 pts ( i know that is VERY low) and am taking my TEAS in a few weeks. I know the deadline has been extended so I could apply for fall 2012 If i pass the TEAS i could earn 2-40 points on top of the 75 and I have heard there are a low number of applicants for fall '12. What would you guys do?? go for it? or try for spring?

Go for it!!! No doubt about it!! I mean if you ace the TEAS, you could have 115 points, and even if you don't get the full TEAS points, I still think you'd have a chance at getting in.

Good Luck!

Thanks That is very Positive outlook :) I have been reading older posts and read that an applicant did not have a "2.8" GPA... I have never read that anywhere for the app process, from what I understand it is a 2.0 overall to APPLY for the program.. any idea?

thanks!

They require a 2.8 GPA for all the classes in the nursing curriculum ( English 1 and 2, A&P 1 and 2, microbiology, intro to psych, medical terminology, health assessment, PHED- foundations of fitness & wellness, lifespan development, and humanities/fine art). All of those classes I just listed, they need to equal a GPA of 2.8 or higher. Your overall GPA needs at least a 2.0.

Hope that helps!

I got accepted to Alvin which was my first choice so I will not be joining you all! Best wishes and congrats because COM still has a low pool of applicants I am sure you will ALL get in!! :)
