Best Area Hotels In Houston

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone, can anyone suggest a great hotel in Houston to stay in with surrounding attractions, and nite life? I'm coming to visit and I would like a safe and clean hotel. If anyone can give me some insight it will be greatly appreciated.

What is your budget?? That would be the biggest consideration. Another would be the area... we are a pretty big city, with a lot of different population centers.

A lot of people like stayin in one of the Galleria-area hotels. There are a couple that are actually attached, and about 20 more within walking distance.

If you want to splurge, try ZaZa - a boutique hotel in the Rice/Museum area. It overlooks Hermann Park Rose Garden. Within walking distance to several museums, zoo, butterfly garden, etc.

Downtown, there are some popular hotels in the Theater district... some are pricey, but may offer some nice package deals. These would probably be your best bet if you are looking for traditional night life - clubs, bars, etc.

If you are in the downtown area, be sure to arrange for a walking tour of the tunnel system. http://www.discoverhoustontours.com/ It's a well-kept secret - used by everyone who works downtown... and the best way to survive the jungle climate of July & August. Also try to book a FREE Port of Houston cruise - http://www.portofhouston.com/samhou/samhou.html . Most people are unaware that - despite being so far from the actual coast, we are the #1 US port for foreign tonnage.

Disclaimer... I have no financial interest in the above activities -- just familiar with them because that's where I take visiting friends & family.

Have Fun!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the information!
