Bayshore Medical Center

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello Everyone, I am a new grad from Chicago and was introduced to Bayshore Medical center through a recruiter online. I spoke with a nursing recruiter from the hospital and it sounded like a pretty good deal. Is this a good hospital? I am a little worried since I have never seen it for myself and I am not from Houston

Specializes in Med-Surg/Pedi/ICU/Tele/Onc.

Well, would I work there....NO. First its an HCA hospital..for profit, which in my opinion means less care, less supplies, and less staff for the patients. I believe there is a GREAT sign on bonus over 2 years (ER I heard) but no one leaves our hospital to go there. Everyone knows better. I was there agency and didn't care for it, but it's been a while. I don't really know what to tell you, but be careful...check it out carefully before you are stuck in a contract.

Thanks!

Drea,

Just remember - if a hospital is paying recruitment bonuses that are waaay out of line with the competition - there is ALWAYS a reason.

Glad to hear you're thinking of heading to the Houston area. We can always use more good nurses!

Specializes in 0 as RN, 3 in ICU and Tele as Tech.

HCA is known for high turnover rates, they ALWAYS have awesome sign on bonuses in hopes of retaining nurses for years.... I have heard of nurses taking the sign on bonus, working there for less than a year, and paying the sign on bonus back just to leave....

I don't know of Bayshore Medical Center personally, but I am familiar with some of the other HCA hospitals. I was a patient at one in March and I wouldn't send my dog there.....

I would tell you to do your research because as the previous poster said, if it sounds toooooo good, there's a reason! HTH.

Hi drea,

Are you looking to move to Houston or you just saw that opportunity?

It's kinda crazy I am also from Chicago and heard about Bayshore throught the online recruiter :wink2:

I was actually able to go in for an interview and it sounded like the manager would be extending an offer. I don't know what you are looking for in a hospital but I know Bayshore is NOT what I am looking for!!

The manager I interviewed with was pretty nice and she very straight forward! She did not try to make Bayshore seem better than they are. Instead she told me about all the things that they are looking to improve, recognizing that they are not up to speed. She also told me how the community is not healthy and patients are extremely noncompliant, they basically just walk out all the time!

If you are still considering this position and would like more info. let me know and i can let you know more of what I saw and was told during my interview.

Thanks so much. I heard about this hospital through a recruiter and was almost willing to take it. I am glad that I asked around about it because I would have been really upset. I wasn't really in a position to go down and visit before hand. Thanks so much. I feel comfortable with my decision not to take that job. They just made it sound so great with the sign on bonus and great pay. I knew that something had to be up. Good luck with the rest of your job searching
