AE MSN at UT Austin Summer 2012

U.S.A. Texas

Anybody out there applying to the UT Austin AEMSN program for summer 2012? Haven't seen any posts about our group of hopefuls yet.

I'll be sure to let you know if I do! Would you mind if I messaged you before my interview if I have any questions? I'm glad there's a large cohort. Gives us a 50/50 shot since there's 117 applicants.

It's not necessarily the case. Some folks apply to more competitive tracks, others apply to less competitive tracks. So it's not as if everyone is pooled together and they select take the top half.

But yeah, you can definitely message me if you want to.

Yeah you're right, that's a good point. I was thinking though, that if you applied to say, the CNS program, and you were still a great applicant,if you didn't get into CNS, they'd offer you undeclared or maybe adult health or something? So in that sense, it would be mostly the top applicants getting in.

do you remember how many spots were available in the Adult CNS, and Psych NP? also, since they are competitive, is it still possible to become accepted into the program as a whole but not into the specific concentration you wanted such as these two.

I had applied to the Psych NP track, but I didn't get in. I think 23 people applied for that spot, and they only had 4 spots. (Once the state later on gave more grant money, I think they expanded it to 5 or 6). So for me, I wasn't in the top 4, but I think I was ranked 7th?

Anyway, they accepted those ranked 5 through 10 as 'Undeclared'.

As for Adult Health CNS, I honestly don't remember. Maybe there were 20 spots? No clue.

But I do know there were far far more spots in that than in Psych NP, that's for sure!

I don't know how it is going to be for your cohort. But in my cohort, at least, that's what the Undeclared category was for. Us undeclared get to choose for our top two choices. The choices available for us were Child Health, Public Health, Adult Health and Maternity.

Interesting. What did you choose?

Interesting. What did you choose?

I haven't chosen anything yet.

Anyone heard about an interview?

Nope...I thought it was supposed to be mid-December?

Is anyone else applying for Adult CNS? And have you read the news about how the ANCC is retiring that certification in 2014? Wondering if they will still offer the Adult CNS track (it wouldn't make sense to do so) and why no one at UT has contacted us about it....I emailed admissions and am waiting to hear back.

Nope I'm getting impatient. I thought they'd start interviewing early December.
