Online A&P for Motlow

Has anyone on here taken A&P online? I am debating taking it online since Motlow in Smyrna is not offering it in the spring at the campus. Please help.

You need to check with Motlow to make sure that they take that A&P for their nursing program. I was going to take it online through Rodp with MTSU and they told me that although they give credit for this class taken through RODP it will not count toward the nursing program for the A&P needed. I know it sounds crazy but that is what I was told. I don't want you to waste money on a class that might not count toward the nursing program.

Motlow does take rodp a & p 1 and 2 for credit in the nursing program. They don't "recommend this" if you have an option to take it on campus, but as a last resort they said it does work. (The on campus classes are very geared towards what you need to know in their nursing program)

I am in rodp a & p 1 right now- just took my final on the 5th

It is a tremendous amount of material- be ready to organize it into something you can study...

I will be taking a & p 2 online in the spring- I go to the smyrna campus which one are you at?

I am currently at Motlow in Smyrna. I took a & P 1 there and received a d and they are not offering it again in the spring so online will be my only option. Can you give me a little more information on how things work like labs and stuff?

To be honest, I took A&P1 online over the summer. I got a B but I worked really hard for my B. I had taken it once between 11 years ago and got a C, without trying.

If you took it on campus and got a D, I really wouldn't recommend taking it online. But if you do choose to take it online, use every resource available to you.

Thanks for clarifying this info. I called Vol State and was told that if you want to apply to their campus nursing program that they don't take RODP a & p either. What I don't understand is how the heck can you offer an online nursing program through Rodp but half the schools won't take the credit if you plan to attend their campus program?

RODP A & P -- you have the big textbook that has info you'll need to know and that is covered in the lecture notes for each module. Your main tests will come from this material.

For labs you have a manual and access to online experiments- there is absolutely nothing hands on- you get pictures of bones, brain, etc. We did have to do one experiment with a chicken bone we had to purchase at the store... You have separate tests over lab material. You also have some assignments (not many) to complete and turn in.

I had 6 module tests (about 2 chapters each) and 4 lab tests and a comprehensive final exam.

There are also discs that come with your package for interactive physiology, and the textbook site has alot of practice tests and such.

It's a pretty neat setup, but if I had it to do all over again- I would try to get on campus classes. They cram so much info in with no real guidance.

The tests are hard -- you are analyzing a lot of how stuff works rather than identifying the things you learned-a lot of memorization for the bones and location of things- these were the easier modules.

The thing I most hated- absolutely no extra credit- zip zilch nada... I ended up with an 89.4- technically a B, but so close to an A I could taste it.... I also hope ww didn't skip over things they stress in the on campus classes. I had a couple of friends in a campus class and they were never learning the same material that I was studying (maybe just different timing- I'm not sure...)

It's hard work, but dig in and try your best! There are other posts on this forum somewhere where a lady has organized material from her A & P courses- search for those. She has included notes that you can download and print off.

I am taking online chemistry through Edukan, which is the Kansas consortium of community colleges that offers many online classes. They offer A&P each semester, and it would show up on your transcript as a regular class. You can get info at edukan.org or any of the community colleges in Kansas. I attend through Barton County Community College -- bartonccc.edu -- and live in Tennessee.

I can say that the info you learn in A&P I and II will come very handy in nursing school. There is not a lot of time spent going over the info from A&P, as you should already know it.

Its a great program, but you MUST know your stuff! I have also taken online classes through MTSU and I can't imagine taking A&P online and doing as well in the nursing program as I have. Best of luck. Hope to see you there next year!

did you need a proctor for your exams?were they openbook?

My RODP course did not require a proctor for any of the exams. The final was comprehensive... None of mine were open book- they all clearly stated no book-notes-or internet use allowed....
