LPN soon to graduate has no idea of wages in TN

I am about to graduate and I have NO IDEA what to expect for an hourly rate. I am new to TN and I am brand new to this field. I don't want to over sell myself nor under sell myself. I thought about being honest and stating such at an interview but I don't think that would be a good idea. I have gone online and tried to research currenty salaries but I am not sure how accurate the websites are and of course job postings do not stage wages. I'd greatly appreciate any info anyone can give!

In Memphis, you can expect around 18-20/hr in LTC. In the hospital, if you can find one that will hire an LPN, you can expect around 14-15/hr. Jail system is anywhere from 15-20 depending on which one you go to. MR/DD is the same, 15-20 depending on where you go. MD offices/clinics around 14/hr.

LTC facilties in Shelbyville, TN start new LPN grads at 18.05 an hour.. seems like alot compared to what the other posts say..

Have worked in several different venues. The best paying job in west tn. that i ever had was home health but alot of traveling in your own vehicle. that makes it not worth it. (18 per hr) hospital generally depends on experience 12/14 perhr, nursing home 13-15 per hour. A clinic in this area is anywhere from 8-13 a hour depending on experience but am also in a rural area with the closest large city is jackson

Thank you, Jackson is the closest area for me too. Boy its a big difference from what I had read about perhaps the biggest difference is being an RN. I have made more money per hour doing frangrance modeling and no experience needed there. Sad

I am a new LPN grad in the Nashville area and everyone in my class who has found a job is making between 15-19/hr. That is at a Dr office, private duty, LTC's, and Home health. The Dr offices pay on the low end. Hospitals slightly more, then LTC's, with private duty and Home health paying the most. I found a PRN job at a 5 star LTC that pays 16.50/hr base pay, +3/hr for PRN, +3/hr for nights, + 1/hr for weekends :-) So that really adds up. I could potentally be making 23.50/hr if I worked weekend nights. :nurse:

I'm a CNA so all those salaries beat mine. lol. I'm fixing to take the LPN and wanted to know the wages in TN. I was aiming to get out of LTC but I guess that's not going to happen if they pay better than hospitals...oh well. Guess after this I'll go for my RN. I want to work in the maternity ward one day (:

I am in Memphis, Tenn and I am looking at starting an lpn program this coming October. I previously attended a BSN program but had to withdraw due to my financial aid ending so I have had to take sort of a detour to my BSN but I figured starting with my lpn would offer me some good experience while I get back to my BSN. I hope I am doing the right thing. Can anyone offer any advice or suggestions?
