Not yet but soon I hope. Do we only wear our scrubs on the clinical day? For other days, do we just wear whatever we want?

Hi guys I am a current nursing student going into my 3rd semester at the UofM. Congrats on getting in and if you have questions about anything no matter how silly you think they are feel free to ask me! And you only wear scrubs on clinical days and the the day you have skills lab! I would recommend you buy at least 3 sets of scrubs to start out with and Identity Factor is awesome! Good luck!

I am applying to the University of Memphis Loewenberg School of Nursing for the spring of 2011. Right now I am taking some pre-requisite courses and by the time I send in my application I will have a GPA of 3.1. The required GPA needed to apply is a 2.7 cumalative. Does anyone who is attending or has applied know what GPA a person needs to be competitive or be pretty sure they will be accepted into the program. I'm very nervous about getting in.
I third semester and Loewenberg and love it! If anyone told you that it is a challenging program, they are correct. However, my father is a doctor in the area and he says that all hospitals tend to hire U of M students first because we are so over-trained. Keep me posted, and congrats!

Thanks to all the current Loewenberg students for posting! We need all the advice we can get.

    @TenderLoveNcare:

I have heard of identity factor for scrubs. Do they monogram the scrubs the way Landau does? I am looking to save $ wherever I can since we have so much to pay for. Thanks!

Yes they monogram like Landau and I think they offer a package of some sort with scrubs and a nursing kit! I used them and had no complaints!

I am replying to you because you offered your assistance but everyone else please feel free to reply as well.

First off i want to say i commend all you ladies for picking nursing as a goal and sticking with it. We all know it is defnitely not a walk in the park.
Unfortunately when I first began college up until recently i did not give my academics my full efforts as I should have. I also just decided to be a nursing major. I have the personality for it but i do not quite have the grades!

So here are my few questions:

1.) I currently have a 2.57 and will be taking the remaining pre-reqs this fall (a&P 1 and Micro) this fall. I am certain that i can have a cumalitive 2.7 and a science 3.0 by the time the sp12 program begins but I am nervous tht they wont accept me with these pending circumstances..Opions?

2.) How difficult do you all think it would be to take ap2 before taking ap1? additionally both of these classes will be taken online... :/

3.)At the start of sp12 my daughter will only be 2 months old. Is there anyone else that has a small child in a nursing program that couold give some insight on this?

4.) at the school I attend now. "University of Central Arkansas" you transfer credits do not transfer in as gpa credits. Does U of M do this also? meaning that the classes that will be calculated into my overall gpa will only be the ones taken at U of M?

i know theses are essay questions lol but they are so important. I have a meeting with my advisor on the 29th of June but these what ifs have been haunting me! lol Im so glad I found this forum

If I dont get accepted I willjust return to LR and attend their Baptist Health Rn Program and revisit the BSN after recieving my RN liscense

I would definitely work hard to pull your GPA up as much as you can(3.0 is normally the standard...2.7 is doable but cutting it close) Don't be so hard on yourself focus on the science courses as to me that's what really counts(I repeated both A&P2 and Micro) so there is hope!I woundn't recommend doing ap2 before ap1 but I have known a few ppl to do it.

As far as transferring credits I would really just leave that to your advisor so I won't misinform you.

There are many mothers in my nursing class and they seem to manage just fine with the support of spouses/family. And my sister-in-law made it through the program this past spring with 3 kids(2 of which she had while in the nursing program) so again it very doable but you have to dedicated, focused, and have an awesome support system!
