Have any of yall heard anything good or bad about Jackson State's RN program? I looked at SWTCC...but it's not a good idea for me. I noticed on their site that they state their nursing program leads to a "Terminal Degree" which is not meant for transfer to a four year university. I'm going for my MSN, and DNSc. I really want do RN-BSN at Union- G'town. Let me know if you all know about JSCC!

Brett--you can transfer the STCC credits to any 4 year university around here, and probably most other places too. I'm not sure why they used the term terminal degree but it doesn't mean you can't go further than that. I don't know anything about the program you mentioned, but would suggest checking into Northwest Mississippi CC also.

I'll check with Union G'town and see what they say as far as the nursing classes transfering. I checked in NWCC...(my mom got her ADN there many moons ago) but they are only accepting MS students into the nursing program right now. Thanks for the reply !

Hi there,

Jackson state in has a verry large competion for ther spots......

I think I was told around 350 applicants who quailify appied last year........they accept less than 50.

So make sure you r the top of the class.

They do have a 100% board pass rate year before last.........not sure on this years.

I live in jackson, work angency work in memphis.........as an LPN, pay rate here stinks.......11 bucks an hour to start as a lpn at the local hospital.

I am getting ready to go back for my RN.....just not sure which route to go.

I currently attend JSCC. Its a great school with a great staff. I will admit it is very stressful with a high success rate if you don't drop out.

They currently are accepting 80 per class. I wish you the best of luck.
