Issues with Tenn State U in Nashville

U.S.A. Tennessee

Hello all, since I didn't get in at VSCC, I thought I would look around and research other avenues of nursing. Has anyone ever tried to get a question answered or information from TSU? I think dealing with these people are some of the worst experiences I have ever had with a school. Most schools want you to come to their campus, but every person I dealt with at TSU could care less.

Every time I called, they wouldn't listen to what I needed and sounded too busy to help me, would pass me around to another person, tell me they don't know, they are not responsible for that. So I decided to quit calling and actually went to the campus on Friday.

I went to the nursing department and got treated even ruder. I was looking for someone to help look at my transcripts and discuss what I would need to get in and see what other options they had. The secretary was too busy on a personal phone call to help so I just stood there, she finally turned her back to me. I then walked around until I found, I believe one of the nursing directors, and she too seem too busy to deal with me. She was busy reading the newspaper on-line and barely turned her chair around to discuss anything with me. I handed her my transcripts and started asking questions but I could tell she did not want to help. She gave me no more information than I already had.

Has anyone else experienced this? I don't think I am going to waste my money on this school. By the way, I do plan to write the president of the university but if he is like the rest of his staff, it would be a waste of time!!

You can refer to the link below to see the NCLEX passing rates for Diploma, Associate, Baccalaureate, and Masters programs in TN.

In 2006, TSU's pass rate was 97% for ASN, and 78% for BSN.

The TN state pass rate was 91.8% compared to the national pass rate of 88.1%.

The low passing rate for NCLEX of TSU students is a very well known fact around here.

That is just not true. TSU has a HIGH NCLEX pass rate....at least they did when I graduated!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sorry u all have a bad experience with TSU. I went to the school and I can tell you not much ahs changed. I graduated in May 2007 with a BS in agribusiness. Now I am trying to go back to school to become a nurse but it won't be @ TSU. I liked my department because it was small everybody knew each other. One part about TSU that I didn't like was some of the people there were so angry that white attended the school every assumed that they go a minority scholarship. Me being a black student that wasn't angry about anything, it was really uncomfortable for me to hear student seem so hostel towards other students. It is a very unorganized school especailly if you have to deal with financial aid, that was a headache every year for me. I wish all of the best in your dreams. I just wanted drop u a note to let you know that everyone at TSU is not the same and I totally understand what you mean if you felt hostility and I do apologoize for them.
