Hello future nursing students,

I have currently finished majority of my per-req courses such as, anatomy & physiology 1 which I made a B in and anatomy2 I managed to pull an A. I have not taken microbiology as of yet, but it will be taken in July of this summer. I wanted to start a thread because I am extremely nervous and anxious during the process of applying and being accepted to nursing school and hopefully could get some advice and tips on taking the NLN exam and any other information that could be helpful as well. I am thinking about taking the NLN exam some time before fall semester begin so that would give me sometime to breath after my summer class. I have been looking over the Pre-admission guide that Southwest suggest to study for the nln. Is that book actually helpful? What does the test consist of? And was any of the material difficult?

Any information will be helpful and good luck to all on the journey of becoming a nurse!!!

Hi, I am also taking my prerequisite to get into southwest I am studying for my nln exam now,but what I was wondering what are some of you guys GPA's & test scores if you have been accepted into the program already? Thanks this would be lots of help!! ?

BEL985 Can you advise me on what to study for the NLN exam at Southwest? I have the study guide Southwest recommends. I took the Kaplan at Northwest & I wish I would have skipped half of the time I spent studying certain topics because many were not on the test. On the Kaplan there was no geometry, vocabulary definitions, and the science was just AP. Any help would be awesome because I did not score so well on the Kaplan. I put a lot of time like I said studying subjects that were not on the test. I am going to keep my head up & improve my scores for Southwest. Thank you!!

I remember the science section being lots of Qs about electricity and gas laws.. Not much bio or AP. I only had 2 AP questions total. I bought the book but never used it. The math is very simple.. Lots of ratios and fractions. Stuff like that! I found it fairly easy but know several people that did not meet the minimum score of 100. The people that did pass that score had mostly in the 105-110 range.

Phone calls went out today from Southwest!

Let me know if you got a call!

Are you sure phone calls went out today? I called the nursing department and they told me it would be next week before they make the calls.. Any info would help. I'm sooo nervous about not getting in.

I've got it on my voicemail. It was automated and said "Congratulations for your acceptance to the SWTCC ...."

I was informed by a representative on the selection committee that the calls will be made the week of Thanksgiving break.

I was also informed that the calls would be made this week. I'm hoping they make them today!
