I'm surprised you haven't received responses because I know there are LMU students on this board. I am a 2007 grad and will try to answer any questions you might have, although I understand the program has undergone some changes since I graduated. PM me if you want.

Congrats on being accepted Spring 09. Get prepared for a wild, bumpy, hectic, disorganized ride! I graduated May 08. I was at the Blount site for 1 semester. I liked it. The LMU program is ok. Some of the instructors really care about teaching and helping the students, others do not. I think we had 2 days of classroom instruction and two days of clinicals each week. Each semester is scheduled a little bit different.

Sorry, that's not much help. I might not be able to help out with the schedule, but I can offer moral support!

Caring for a family and going to school is not easy, but it can be done!

Thanks sooo much for your reply!! I had figured it would be all of the things you said....disorganized wild bumy ride :) I figure by the time I finish the "dust bunnies" will have had complete run of my home LOL!! Do you have kids? That to me is going to be the toughest....I think......I have a 3 yr old and a 6 yr old.....my 6 yr old is in school and my 3 yr old will be in pre k next fall.....so I keep thinking it will be a little better for me once I start that third semester....just keep my head above water until then :)

I appreciate you offering morale support and I'll probably need all the "cheering on" I can get :)

If you don't mind me asking what area of nursing do you work in? Right now I think I'm interested in either L&D or NICU.....of course that could change....

No, I do not have children. But there was a woman in my class that had 3 kids and was pregnant with twins.

Currently I work in Occupational Health. I have been here for almost 4 yrs. I worked at Blount Mem. on 5N, oncology/med-surg for a year right after LPN school. I got tired of caring for 10 -13 pts each shift and left Blount.

I was very lucky that my current employer let me work around my LMU-RN school schedule. 98% of the time Occ. Health is very calm. When the other 2% occurs, all h*ll breaks loose! I feel like I am losing some of my nursing skills and I have been trying to help out in the OR lately.

Clinicals will help you decide which area you might want to work in. The great thing about nursing is, if you don't like the area you are working in, you can pick a different area. The options are endless.

Lincoln Memorial University, which has its main campus located in Harrogate, Tenn. (middle of nowhere) and satellite campuses in Knoxville and Maryville (Blount County).

Hi I am also starting the RN program at LMU Blount site in Spring 09. I went for advising yesterday. I have three children 7, 4, and 2 years old. I also just started as a CNA at Blount Memorial Hospital. I will work 3 twelves from 7p to 7a.

Have you started the Dosage book yet? I finished chapter 1 yesterday. If anyone has the Nursing 115 textbooks and they do not want them any more I would be interested in taking them off your hands. I can afford the classes, but not the books...

Anyway, let me know what your schedule will be.:nuke:

Yeah!! I'm so glad to hear from someone starting in Jan at the Blount site!! I have ordered my dosage book and it should be here the first part of next week...that is awesome you have finished the first chapter!! I had to miss the advising appt yesterday as I am finishing microbiology....I was also getting my physical, drug test, and hep b vaccine....they said they would have me meet my advisor on 12/4/08.

I also have little ones ages 3 and 6; that to me is going to be the biggest challenge...balancing being a mom w/studying my behind off!! Do you have lots of help/support? I know that will be tough working also. But I'm sure you'll do fine :) Are you planning to attend the 12/4/08 advising/registration etc?

I have a great husband...I couldn't do this without him. I was lucky that my physical was already done for work so I just got copies of all of that for LMU. I still have to take anatomy and physiology, as well as micro. My schedule for spring is NURS 115, physiology, and the literacy fluency class. I wish I had all of my pre-reqs done, but I think it will be OK. I will be at the ACC (Alcoa site) on the 4th of December. I am excited and nervous. :yeah:

I know it is exciting!!! That is great your husband sounds like he'll be a great help....between my husband and my mom I think I'll be okay too. Is the Anatomy and Physiology two separate courses at LMU? I have taken A&P I&II and am about to finish Micro......

I will also be at the Alcoa site
