Belmont BSN Fall 2014

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

Hey ya'll! I am applying to transfer from my current four year college to Belmont University in Nashville to start the clinical portion of the BSN program. I just wanted to put my stats out there and see if anyone has an idea of what my chances will be like to get in. After this semester I'll have 65 credit hours and as of right now I have a 3.42. My pre-req GPA is 3.2 right now though I'm still in the process of taking A&PII. My SAT was an 1820. I just want to get a feel for where I stand because I have been falling more and more in love with Belmont the more I look into it!

Thanks and I appreciate any help I can get!

I'm not sure how difficult it is to transfer into the Belmont nursing program. Beth Douglas is the coordinator for nursing admissions. If you haven't spoken to her, she would be a good start.

Belmont is a great school and has a well respected nursing program. Good luck to you!

I have been emailing them back and forth as I am also considering Belmont in fall 2014:) This is what I've learned so far:

" For the SAT, the minimum combined score of the Critical Reading and Math scores for nursing program admission is a 1090. For the ACT, the minimum composite score for nursing program admission is a 23.

You asked about your status in the nursing program if you get admitted to Belmont. A lot of nursing schools require you to go through a pre-nursing program before you can be admitted into their nursing program, meaning that you enter the university not knowing if you will ever make it into their nursing program once you finish the prerequisites. However, at Belmont our nursing program is direct-entry. That means that if you are accepted to Belmont and to the School of Nursing, you will be a nursing major from the moment you come to Belmont. This also means that it is possible to be admitted to Belmont and not to the nursing major, but you can always come to Belmont and take some classes, and reapply to the nursing program.

You do not have to have any courses completed in order to transfer to Belmont as a nursing major. The prerequisites listed on the nursing website are required in order to take the clinical nursing courses, but they are not required for entry into the nursing program."

Thank you so much, this clears up a lot! Now I guess I just have to wait and see if I get in! Cross your fingers for me! :)
