How does the TEAS work?

I have a question about the TEAS test. Is this something I can take, say, a couple of times and submit my best score to all of the schools I apply to, or will every school require you to take it specifically for their program?

You can take it twice in a year, you have to wait a month after the first test before you can retake it. You pay for each time you take it.

I don't think that's how it is for the programs around my area. But I just wanted to know if I am able to take the test at a facility and then send the scores to several different programs, kind of like the ACTs in high school. Or would I have to take it for every program I apply to?

You can send the same scores to several schools.

You can send the scores to different schools. My school allows you to take it as many times as you want, you just have to wait 60 days in between test-- and pay the $45 every time.

My school only allows 2 takes in a 2-year period and they have to be no less than 30 days apart.

Don't get test-crazy and take it a bunch of times because it may immediately disqualify you from applying to places.

Look into the schools you're interested in and see what their requirements are. Some require the TEAS, some don't. They all have different rules for taking the TEAS though.

Ohhh. There is this BSN program in my area that will allow you to take it as many times as needed. You just have to pass with a 59% or higher. And then there is this ADN at the community college around here that will only allow you to take it twice, ever, and must pass with a 70%+. So if I wanted to apply to both schools, how would this work?

I still don't suggest taking it more than twice even though the BSN program allows more, just because if you don't get in there and you take it more than twice, you'll be ineligible to apply to other places that only allow you to take it twice or less.

I'd say study your butt off for a month (do NOT take it without studying. A lot of people take it the first time to "see what it's like" and it screws them) then take it the first time. If you're content with your score then use it and if not, take it again (when you're allowed to). You can use whichever score is highest. Then apply to both schools with your higher score.
