Who loves/likes their school CRNA program and why?

by atp23

I am wondering who likes their CRNA program and why. I know that's not very specific but I was just curious. I have attended three very different school's for various types of education and all have their strengths and weaknesses. So anyways, thank you for your responses in advance.

Kaiser is a great program for several reasons but number one is amount and variety of cases you will get. I'm finishing up my first year and am on track to have over 1500 cases by graduation - And these are not shared cases with residents...its all you...great training..and it consistently ranks in the top 10 of all CRNA programs...and Nagelhout is the director

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my program............USAGPAN (Army CRNA program).
Why? Because the instructors are SUPER supportive. In fact, they had a separate "meet and greet" for significant others/family.....without the us (the students), to speak about the demands of the program and what support they had to offer family members.

I have been in Civilian Graduate schools and now a Military graduate program. I can absolutely say, this is the best experience I have ever had. And this will be my 3rd Masters of Science.

Why else do I love this program? New facilities, great rapport with professors, excellent rating (2nd in the nation, "missed 1st by 0.1 point".

And, ugh.....I am getting paid to be here (and no tuition).....they are moving my family to go to our next clinical site. (which I can choose).

And "I have a job" automatically with a $40,000/yr pay bonus, when I finish. (and the ability to moonlight)

MTSA is a great program. It is the only regional accredited stand-alone anesthesia school, the second largest of all the schools at 72 students. It is an anesthesia machine. You get a MS degree (none of those fluff nursing courses wiht MSN). It is a Christian based school. Clinicals start after 8 weeks at up to 23 clinical sites. I will go to 15 by graduation. Class average from 1000-1400 cases in all diciplines. The school actually wants you to succeed.

Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences.

I love my school. I can not say enough good things about the classes or the staff. Clinical is AWESOME. We have dedicated rotations after the first 6-8mos of clinical. So you never have to "fight" for cases. No Anesthesia residents to compete with, no other CRNA schools either.

Good luck!

I have some questions about MTSA. Do you check these boards often?

I absolutely adore my school (UNC Greensboro's Baptist Hospital program)! I just began last month so I haven't stepped into the OR yet, but I've already been very impressed. The instructors/administrators really want to see us succeed and are active participants in that process. One of the best parts about my program is the student learning project. Each student is required to help others in some way and our program benefits greatly as a result! One former student was a camp counselor who formulated an orientation program for new Baptist students - it was a really fun day where we had a chance to connect and really get to know each other. Another project was H3A, a 3-day summer program run by current and former students for those entering anesthesia school that fall. It really got me excited for school (we got to learn basic concepts, get to know an anesthesia machine, and even practice intubating and placing central lines and regional anesthetic techniques on cadavers! It was great.)

Were you in the military prior to attending the ARMY school, or did you enter and go directly into school? Also, what will your commitment be to the armny once school is done?
I'm 36, have 10 years of ICU experience, wondering if I'm even elligible at this age?
Thanks for the info!
