What to study before anesthesia school?

Hi guys,Just a few quick questions...I recently got accepted to FIU CRNA program and still have several months before school starts in August. Everyone that I have heard from so far says to kick back, relax, and enjoy my free time. Others have told me to review most commonly used anesthetics. But I am so ready to start and want to know if there is anything I can do in the meantime that will make my life easier later on. I am wondering if CRNA school teaches you everything you need to know or if you should do some studying beforehand?I have 2 years of critical care nursing experience and am a quick learner, definitely not a know it all or trying to sound cocky.Should I be reviewing EKGs, Acid Bases imbalances, ventilators, etc?I was also thinking of buying the book "Watchful care" or the baby miller booksPlease leave some suggestions on what you struggled with most that you wishes you had prepped for prior to starting anesthesia school. Thank you! Any and all of your input is highly appreciated.

Ive gotten alot of advice to relax and save a lot of money! I have recently taken Physiology so I think I will remember that well and will review that and anatomy before I start when I eventually get in!!

I know I am late on this post but I start my program in the fall and can relate to the feeling of wanting to ready or brush up on something to kind of ease my anxiety about the unexpected.

Nothing, you will get more than you can imagine. Read something for fun. Because those days will be on hold for the next 24-36 months. Unless you are morbid like me and sort of enjoy reading Barash.

that's a great advise, Im also staring Jan, 2016 school and have sometime to study. Do you still have the USUHS pharmacology handbook around, I would like to take a look over it, if you would be so kind. I work at the surgical ICU and sometimes looking over drugs is imperative. I have the ICU guide but only contains the dosages.

I think you should do a lot of studying of the back of your eyelids before school starts, because that will be about the only thing you won't be studying after school starts. In case that doesn't work for you PM your email address and I will send you USUHS pharmacology handbook that will give you plenty of the basics to cover before and after school starts.
