University of Maryland CRNA 2018 Start Date

Nursing Students SRNA

Hey Guys! I applied to the UMD CRNA program to start June 2018. I just wanted to start a thread here for people to post any news that they hear about their application, questions about the process, etc. I'm also curious about what everyone's stats are, i.e. GPA, years of experience, certs, etc. Good Luck to everyone!

Got an interview as well. Any tips?

I applied too, good luck to everyone!

How was everyone notified of their interview? Was it via email?

How was everyone notified of their interview? Was it via email?

it seems like it is via email, according to post #12 by Spurs_up earlier in this thread. for those asking for tips about the interviewing process, that post also has some.

does anyone know if all invitations are sent out at once or more will be sent out?

I have read all previous posts and I understand that in previous years invitations for interviews were sent out via email. I was only asking to see if this is still true with this years applications. Thanks!

Good question! Anyone?

I received invitation by email.

Everything will be sent via email, they will call you on selection day, then you will receive and email with your acceptance letter and they will also mail that same acceptance letter a few weeks after that. Like I have mentioned before I received my request to interview in mid October. If you have not received an interview yet I would call the program and ask to check on your status. There are people who incorrectly entered their email and caught it this way in the past. Trust me they will be more than happy to help. If your stats are good and you have yet to get an interview I urge you follow up with them. You would be surprised at how many little delays can hold up your application that can be resolved quickly by you if you only knew. Now I know you might be thinking what are good stats so here you go:

1) GPA over 3.5, not saying below it is bad but if your above this you should be fine.

2) this should apply to all your GPA's; overall, last 60 credits (nursing), and your science.

3) the science GPA will impress the committee the most. CRNA school is heavily based on science, I would guess 90% of the material.

4) appropriate amount of good experience. I know people think we only care about level one trauma center, but we really care about your knowledge of taking care of sick people. You should be the person that people go to for questions or at least feel comfortable answering and explaining why we do these things.

5) the CCRN also helps, I believe that the majority of my classmates have theirs. If you don't have it and got an interview I would suggest taking it before your interview. At this point you just want to separate yourself from the pack.

Hope this helps a little and everything works out for everyone on this post. Best of luck and be persistent.

Hello everyone! I have unfortunately missed the Sept 1 deadline for the Summer 2018 year. After checking throughout the website I do not see anything about missing the priority deadline. Would I have to wait to apply Sept 1, 2018 for the 2019 year? I plan on calling tomorrow to get more information but wanted to get insight here as well. Thank you!

Best of luck to everyone!

I just received an email from the school. All interview invitations have been sent out already. What Spurs_up said was reassuring but I guess a little inaccurate. I have a 3.8 science gpa, TNCC, CCRN, 1.5 years experience in a combined MICU/SICU and Neuro ICU at level 1 trauma center and another 2 years experience in a Trauma/Surgical/Burn ICU in a level 1 trauma center in St. Louis. Guess there were just better applicants !! Good luck to everyone who has interviews !

Agreed. I have higher stats (as per what Spurs_up identified as important criteria) than those who previously wrote theirs and received invitation to interview. Weird!?! Best of luck to all that are to interview!!
