How many years of applying and how many schools?

I was wondering, how many years of appyling did it take you to get accepted into a program? Was it the school you had hoped for or did you take what you could get? Did you have to move? Did you apply at a large amount of schools or bank on one or two?

Just trying to get a feel for what lies ahead!

Applied to one and got in on the first try. May want to do a search, quite a few old threads with the same subject.

Good luck.

Jen- I chose my schools based on my evaluation of what they had to offer. I would not "settle", remember that this is essentially a terminal degree and you need to be sure you want to do this and are prepared for the rigor that is anesthesia school. I applied to two schools that would meet my needs educationally and clinically- not all programs will "fit" you. After selecting them, I examined what my current knowlege base was and what I would need to get in to each school. I got all my ducks in a row and was accepted to both on the first application cycle. I had to move halfway across the country to attend my first choice, and so far I am loving it. (Even if I am on hour 10 of an 18 hour study session- three exams this week.)

Applied to one school, it fit me the best. Applied once, got in, start in Jan. 2008

Like ready4CRNA said, look at several schools, find the ones that fit "you" best and apply when ready.

Good Luck.

Just an observation here. Many applicants who are offered a spot in more than one program respond to each program in the affirmative. Whether they are trying to make up their minds, or waiting on a better offer, they tie up spots in each program which affects many other applicants. In the future, look for more and more programs to start including a requirement for a down payment towards tuition as part of the acceptance response. If you decide not to show up or to go elsewhere, the deposit will be forfeited.

Barry University in Miami, Florida is one such school. After acceptance you have 30 days from the receipt of your letter to give them $1000 to hold your seat.

There's only one program in my area, and relocation is not an option, so when the time comes (I'm still working on the undergrad degree!), I'll just have to keep applying until I'm accepted!

I applied to one school and got in- Saint Mary's University. They also require a $1,000 dollar deposit. While I really enjoyed living in the Portland Oregon area I am looking forward to relocating to Minneapolis- I have heard nothing but positive things.

Good Luck,

Bill

I've applied to TCU and TWU in Fort Worth. Not sure about TCU, but I know that TWU requires a deposit upon acceptance of your position.

what where your credentials if you don't mind me asking. Way to go and good luck. I am from Minnesota and I have never been disappointed to live here. Only suggestion, bring/buy a warm jacket!

I'm willing to move anywhere that will pay for my education! I'm a CNRN, CCRN with over 14 years Neurovascular/Trauma ICU experience.
