CCRN w/ non-nursing Bachelor's

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

I am an ASN, RN, CCRN w/ subspeciatly certifications CMC and CSC. I have three years experience in Cardiac Intensive Care at a level 1 trauma center hospital. I currently do not hold a BSN but have a BA in History (woops!) from 2007. Are there any CRNA programs out there for which I might be eligible? Thanks for any input.

Specializes in CRNA.

Most want you to have a BSN but there are a few that will accept another degree but they are normally in the sciences. I would advise you to look at the programs that your most interested in and find out their requirements. CRNA Schools is a great place for information.

From the little research I have done on the matter, it seems as though the anesthesia programs that award a MSN degree w/ anesthesia concentration require a BSN whereas the programs that are a "master of science in nurse anesthesia" frequently just require a bachelor's degree

Akron has an RN-MSN option. I'm not sure of the specifics because I didn't need to know when I was preparing my application since I have a BSN. I did see it listed in their possibilities though.

Specializes in MICU.

FIU has an RN-MSN option for the Nurse Anesthesia concentration, but I believe that your bachelor's degree needs to be in a science related field.
