Hey all,
I am a new grad RN looking to becoming a CRNA. I first applied to ICU positions, but was unsuccessful and applied elsewhere and just today was presented with two job offers.
One is close to me, a 200-bed Magnet hospital with a good reputation, on a med-surg and tele unit. I had two clinical rotations on this unit; they do carotids, strokes, general (non orthopedic) surgeries, etc.
The other one is at a 391-bed Magnet hospital with a great reputation, on a medical cardiology/tele unit.
Pay and benefits aside, is there a significant difference in the level of experience these hospitals will give me? Both would provide opportunities for advancement to ICU, but the second has a critical care internship program.

ICU residency!!!! i partcipated in one and was the best thing i ever did (for my bedside nursing career)...
The offer is not for the residency, but they allow new nurses who have worked there under two years to apply, so I would have an opportunity to enroll in the future.
It is my impression that medical cardiology would be better than a mix of med-surg/neuro/vascular for supporting experience, is this correct? The main downside to the second hospital is that I would have to relocate, not a big issue, but I do know several nurses on the unit at the first hospital.
Took the cardiology job. Hopefully I will have opportunities in critical care open up in time; right now I am looking forward to this job and the opportunities it will offer.
