The prestige of having extra initials. Everyone I work with have let their CCRN expire.

Specializes in SICU / Transport / Hyperbaric.

I wouldn't think so, unless you are one of those credential junkies that has everything possible listed behind their name. Just my opinion.

Nope.

One of my instructors said it best; by the time you've graduated, you're a master at all of the material on the CCRN, so there's no need to prove it once you're a CRNA.

The AACN does have an advanced critical care journal, don't they (beyond just the American Journal of Critical Care & Critical Care Nurse)? Maybe the AACN and their journals aren't necessarily for you after you are a CRNA, but then you should be doing something else to keep your practice current. Maybe an anesthesia association or journal, conferences, etc. While I think a lot of the alphabet soup stuff is dumb, I actually do have respect for the medically-oriented certifications like the CCRN. I actually have more respect for those certifications than I do for the worthless paper-writing BSN, or even worse, the MSN based in pseudo-religious mystical "energy field" theories.
