Vanderbilt MSN

Nursing Students NP Students

Hi all--

I posted a few days ago elsewhere but I'm still looking for some insight:

Anyone know a guy who knows a guy who did their MSN at Vanderbilt? Specifically, I'm looking into the post-BSN emergency nurse practitioner program. I'd like to hear how doable (or not) the whole set-up is for someone who works and lives outside of Nashville.

Thanks for any input you can provide!

I looked into Vanderbilt but you literally have to be there a few times a month if you glance at the FAQs. I capped my campus visit number at 1-2 a semester because I live on the West Coast so wasn't an option. It's also pricey.

Otherwise it's a good school. I personally know an NP who got her FNP there.

Specializes in ICU.

The director of my AG-ACNP program previously taught at Vanderbilt and speaks very highly of the school. It was #1 on my list until I decided to go west coast. I have heard that it's very intense - as they get you done much faster than most programs. But I think it's a great program/school to aim for!

Specializes in NICU, telemetry.

I'll echo what they said. I know 2 people who have gone there. Both had to cut down to PT/PRN because of campus visits, but like the programs they're in. One did FNP and the other will be graduating neonatal soon.
