Hi guys! I've officially committed to Simmons and wanted to know if anyone else is doing the FNP program in September?!

Hi, I have applied to Simmons for the Sep 2016 cohort -online, I am waiting to hear back,

Where are you from? I want to go to Simmons but I'm from California and just wanted to know would I be able to practice back home once I'm done. I was even thinking about moving to Boston just so it can be something different

Hey! I'm about to graduate from the FNP program at Simmons.

Let me know if I can answer any questions for you or otherwise be of help.

Thanks psych nurse! How have you found the program, overall? Also, share some details about the clinical experience? How easy/hard was it to find a preceptor? When you actually go to the clinical site, are you seeing patients independently, or is it always with the provider?

Overall, I think the program is good. It definitely felt intense at times! I really learned a lot. I've been told that Simmons has a reputation around Boston as being the "boot camp" school.

As far as clinicals go, I saw a lot of patients on my own. The way it usually seems to go for students is that we go in and get a history, do an assessment, and then present the patient to our preceptor. The preceptors will then often ask for some differentials and our ideas for next steps. I guess this is similar to what led students and residents would do.

Finding placements for all the students has been challenging in recent years, so you may not get what you want. If you have ideas for potential placements, do some footwork to try to make it happen!

Best of luck!!

I just got the news - I have been accepted to the Nursing@Simmons program for the Fall 2016 cohort!!

Erin B RN,

how long after your application was submitted to faculty did it take for your acceptance ? I'm waiting on one last LOR to be submitted then it will go to faculty.

It was 1 week, but I had heard that it can take longer. I was waiting on that last LOR for a couple of weeks.

Specializes in Pediatric RN, FNP-BC.

Going to join this thread. Any brand new RN's out there? I too, just applied to Simmons for Fall 2016 for the RN-MSN/FNP. I have a prior BS and MS in other non-nursing fields. How long did it take you all to hear back, and what was your experience and GPA?

I applied about 2 weeks ago and am still waiting to hear back. A little about my background I got my first bachelor's in biology and now my second in nursing. I actually left medical school to start nursing. I didn't want to deal with the debt and wanted a little bit of a life. So I took up nursing after seeing the patient centered care nurses provided and really love a diagnostic aspect to NP so I am pursuing that now. I can't wait to hear back and hopefully get to know each other!

I've applied for the Sept 2016 cohort, still waiting to hear back! Has anyone heard back yet?
