I have applied to SLU's psych NP program for spring 2013. Is anyone applying or attending this online university? Looking to connect with others who are either planning to attend or have experience with the school. Any NP fields please reply. Thank you!

I've applied for spring 2013 FNP at SLU and no word so far. Haven't been called for an interview either. Starting to get really discouraged. :(

I got accepted!!! Have you heard anything! I'm over-the-top excited...and scared to death, lol!

Good luck...hope you hear soon!

Just wanted to chime in and say that I found out yesterday that I was admitted into the psych NP progam as well! I have some things to look into and a bunch of questions to ask of them but everything goods good so far!

I'm looking forward to hearing what anyone else has heard about the program. I haven't seen much about it on this website.

Yesterday must have been announcement day for SLU's Psych program. When do you start? Happy for you! I have a lot of questions do. The big one is how am I gonna pay for this?! LOL! Can I PM you about school plans? There is little on this forum but I do know from a reliable person that SLU is an excellent school and will not fail us. Looking forward to "meeting" you as we start this journey. I work, have a family and a life so I'm not sure how I'm going to approach this. One step at at time I guess!

I have 2 coworkers who went there graduating in 10. One the adult and the other acute care. Both worked full time. One who was driven, broke and seeking a second degree worked 24 hrs a week and was a clinical instructor while doing the program. She is my mentor for weeks I have to work 48 hrs a week.

Was she pleased with the program? You work 48 hrs/week?! Yuck! Are you in school, too?

Yes, both ladies were pleased with the programs. I worked 48 hrs a week while doing the theory classes, now that clinicals have started I " cut back" to 36 a week. When I get breaks I go back to 48.

Wow, you are busy! So it's going well for you? Which program are you in again? Is it feasible to take, say 2 courses and work??? I don't know what to expect in terms of class demands. I anticipate lots of writing which I am very slow at. I need to keep working as well but I don't want to make myself crazy. Thanks for your feedback!

You can absolutely PM me, I'm supposed to start in Spring so January! I'm excited too but very nervous. I have a family and work and all that as well. But I just finished up and online RN-BSN program that I loooooved so I hope this is similar to that. I have been searching high and low for anything about the program- you're so lucky that you know someone who has been in it and can tell you! I got accepted into one other school and am waiting on another, but there's a huge price difference in them so that's kind of where I''m at right now just collecting information! What have you types of things have you heard about the program?

The person who recommended it is from that area. She hasn't actually attended but knows a lot about the school...says it's solid. Remind me again, are you Psych? I'll PM you....

Yep, psych np :)

I hope you attend SLU!

Hi there,

I plan to apply for the Psych NP program for the Fall 2013 cohort. I am very worried about my qualifications for the program. I have a decent GPA(3.6) BUT I have no real experience. I am applying right after completing my BSN.

For those of you accepted into the program would you mind sharing your "qualifications." GPA, experience, and anything else you would like to share.

Thanks!
