Review options to have when STARTING NP school

hi everyone- I have read lots of threads about review options for after school, when studying for the boards.

i'm wondering if there are any really good review programs that would help me when starting my training? i am half way through my 3 yr program and just getting into patho and pharm. i'm always on the lookout for things that will help, and would love any input. thanks

Which path are you on? FNP? AGPC? Acute care?

I'm FNP and I have the Hollier CD's and have been listening to them as much as possible lately (graduate this semester) and do wish I had gotten them sooner. The Leik Intensive review book is also nice (though as many have said, some typos). I might wait until you start clinicals and such in case they come out with new/updated versions (Hollier comes out with new CD's every year). I have also read some people prefer Barkley (as PP suggested). I can't say which I prefer because I only have the Hollier. I did borrow Fitz CD's and book from a preceptor and I will say Hollier is a bit more fun to listen to than Fitzgerald in my opinion. Again, not sure about Barkley.

We discovered our last semester that our instructors has been snagging test questions from various review books on our tests all along. Makes me wish I had bought them sooner. I just took and passed my boards, and honestly I was unimpressed with their similarity to actual board questions. I used Leik and Fitzgerald books cover to cover about 10 days before my test. It was a spur of the moment decision. The review books were much more intense, picky, and difficult than the certification exam. I almost think they're better for reviewing and reference once you're in clinical then they are for study prep.
