i'm not sure if this is the right section to be posting under, but i'm currently looking at 2 psych MS NP programs. has any one been in or heard about the psych programs at NYU or columbia? between the two, which one would be better for someone who has oncology experience as an RN and some psych experience as a MHA?

anything you guys can help me with would really be appreciated!

Hi there. I don't have first hand experience of either program but I have heard good things about Columbia. Sometimes if you interview at a school they have former or current students that are available to talk with you about what it is really like to be in the program. Good luck on your choice! I am almost done with my PMHNP MSN program and I love it.

Which school is "better" is often a very personal decision, and varies among individuals. Both the schools you name are well-known and have good reputations. Why not apply for both and interview for both if you have the opportunity -- that process will probably help you get a "feel" for which school would be a better fit for you. I know that's how things worked when I was applying for grad school(s).

I've spoken to both directors at both programs and having the hardest time making up my mind. They both seem like great programs, but I obviously want the best one with the money I'll be paying. So far, Columbia is in the lead because of their oncology subspecialty, but I've also heard great things about the pharmaco courses offered at NYU. The possibility of transferring is pretty slim since they only allow transferring a limited amount of credits at both schools. I guess my next step is to reach out to students and get an honest opinion.

I appreciate all of your inputs!
