Anyone in the Nov cohort for Simmons college FNP?

I just received my acceptance call today from my advisor. I will be in the Nov cohort. Wondering if there are any admitted students out there for the same cohort wanting to connect :). Congrats!

Does anyone know the cost of the two credit bio bridge course?

Serious question: has anyone been denied to Simmons yet?

I was very interested in the school, as the on campus program has always had a great reputation. Suddenly, though, the online program seems as talked about on here as Kaplan and Walden. How are so many students getting in? Has Simmons lowered the admissions standards for the online program compared to the on campus program? Have they gone the way of so many other good schools and chosen money over education quality?

I was also turned off when I called to inquire and felt like I was talking to a salesman. The guy then called me every day for like a week asking me to apply. In fact, he still calls me! That, again, reminds me of the tactics of a for profit school and is very odd from a program like Simmons. What's the deal?

Not trying to say Simmons is bad, I'm just genuinely curious as to what has happened since they've started the online program?

I think this is a legitimate question and I do not believe you are trying to disparage Simmons. It made be because it is new and there is not enough current students from whom prospective students can retrieve information. I know of four students who have not been accepted to Simmons, so it does occur. Most on this forum are looking to make contact with current students or those who will be starting in their cohort. If you are someone who has been denied admission anywhere, I doubt you will start a thread titled “Denied Students” or be interested in what those admitted have to say. To address the standards at Simmons, they do the most comprehensive GPA calculation compared to some other schools. One college that I applied only calculated the last 60 hours and another just considered the GPA from my BSN. My admission rep only called me once and I said I would be in contact when I was ready to apply. I regret that yours was pushy and resorted to salesmen tactics. I truly hope that no one categorizes Simmons with some of the other schools.

Sorry I cannot be of anymore help. You can send me a pm if you need some more info.

I agree that those who were rejected probably wouldn't announce it. I was accepted but I had an excellent GPA and very good references. I also did not experience issues with a pushy rep, mine only called a few times and when I told them I need time to think about it they left me alone.

Mine was far from pushy. I'm sorry the person you spoke with gave you a bad impression.

The accepted Students page on Facebook shows the students satisfaction with the program and the school.

Thanks guys! I appreciate those very friendly and helpful responses.

My advisor was also far from pushy and I really appreciate her level of support. I spoke with her as needed and unlike other programs I applied to, she was great about return communication. I have also known of a couple of people that did not get admitted. I do know there are only a certain number of spots available per cohort because they like to keep the student number around 15 per individiual class time. I've known some to be bumped back to future cohorts if they are accepted. Like the others I wonder if it's because the online program is so new it just seems like there is an influx of acceptance from those voicing their positive experiences. Time will tell, but I am only hearing great things from current students :)

Same here! Great GPA and excellent references. Was accepted to 2 other universities, but decided Simmons was the best "fit" for me. I like their format and learning platform. I wanted face-to-face interaction with professors and not just DB or email.
