hello all!

i have just been accepted into the nursing program! this has been a long journey for me (since 2006) but it is finally here. i have fought a lot of batteles to get to this point.

i have randomly checked in on this site to try and keep abreast of what's going on. i usually look at the generally disscussion because the "sc" site appears not to be as up to date, unless i'm reading something wrong.

well my question is for the 2009 graduates.

1) did you all accepet employment within sc or did you move?

2) are you all having a hard time finding employment?

3) for those that didn't work or worked outside of the medical field do you feel the expereince would have made a difference?

4) are you happy?

hello nursearsc,

first of all, congratulation on your acceptance to nursing school. i didnt graduate with my rn in 2009, but 2008. i can answer the questions for you from a year or so ago.

i accepted employment in dc, it was extremely hard to get responses right after nursing school. we had 80 graduates in our class and we all were applying for the same jobs, plus musc and csu graduated nurses as well.

i have worked in the medical field all my life. i feel it made a big difference for me. i have worked in the majority of the roles. i started off as a cna, then lpn and now rn. so i know what is expected and what can or cant be done reasonably. but for the classmates that didnt, it took a little while to adjust.

i love being a nurse, i feel it is a calling. but the market just isnt good right now. so, for the most part, even though i am currently searching for employment due to relocation, i am happy.
