Hello,

I am a nurse for a Head Start Program here in OK. I just had a child broght to my office with a fever of 102.8 and he also complained of leg pain and a sore throat. He has been complaining of leg pain for the past 2 days. The teachers and family just thought it was growing pains. The family said that he has not had any ticks on him. They asked me what I thought it could be and I told them I would research it for them. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be? I told them to see their physician but I am curious also incase this happens again.

Thanks,

Jennifer :)

Temp of 102.8 with leg pain, fever sore throat - need to see a primary provider . You say you are in Head Start - how old is the child? Are they refusing to walk? limping. Worse or waking in pain at night? Both legs or one leg?

Recent injury? Recent staph infection?

Some possiblities , and all need a primary provider

Leukemia, Osteomyelitis, Legg-Perthes, osteosarcoma,

Leukemia, Osteomyelitis, Legg-Perthes, osteosarcoma,

This child is 4 years old. The pain is mild right now. He is not limping and it is not keeping him awake. Someone suggested Kawasaki disease but I have not heard much about that. The family is taking him to primary provider. There are not recent injuries and he has not been sick before this according to the family. Thanks for the comments.
