OK guys! Thanks so much for the response to my previous thread- I soooo appreciate it!

Well, I was called for an interview on Fri morning--- this Fri!!! Guess they work pretty fast! Anyway..... I will be interviewing with a group of 3-4 none of whom are nurses. So, my question is..............

What are some questions that I might expect??

What are things I should research before I go in?

Anything you recommend that I ask?

Any other words of wisdom? I really feel unprepared for this one- 2 day notice and no clue how the interview process works within a school district.

Thanks so much!!!

I'm totally going blank trying to remember back to my interview for my position. I do remember our superintendant asking questions like what would I do with a student if.... And how would I handle a parent if they were upset over something health realted that happened during school hours.... and how would I communicate with teachers on issues. Sorry that's not much, hope it helps!

Ask who you would be reporting to. You need to know who your boss is.

Ask how they want communication to be sent; I prefer email. You want to keep a paper trail. I also back that up with a face-to-face meet for important things.

Be sure you understand what your hours will be.

Ask who your back-up will be--there will come a day when you need it. Be sure there are written policies for the school nurse. You don't want to be making it up on the fly.

My principal told me she just wanted to know that I would love those kids. I had to answer her honestly--I can't promise to love children that are not my own. However, I did promise that her students would receive excellent nursing care and I would give it my all. Musta been the right answer. :p

Incidently, I *did* come to love my students. :heartbeat I love school nursing.
