I have been a member for a long time but I never knew there was a school nurse forum !

I have soooo much to get off my chest, so here it goes:

1) Why do teachers/ staff send kids to the health room for every little thing ?

2) Why can't parents keep their sick kids home?

3) This is the health room not a place to get household items/ medical advice/ and medicine for STAFF !

4) ( for staff)No, I'm not sending every kid home that has a cough and running nose, if thats the case the whole school should be sent home

5)( for staff) Let me do my job ! Do I come to your class and try to teach so don't come to the HR and tell me how to do my job.

6) No swelling, no bruising, You don't need an ice pack !

7) Please send my diabetic to the health room on time ! I'm sorry but checking his BGL and giving insulin is way more important than finishing up a sentence.

8) No, not every kid with a red eye has PINK eye, ever heard of seasonal allergies ?????:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Thanks that felt Good ! I do love my job believe it or not.

Thanks everyone ! I'M SURE you will be seeing more of me. I'm not a school nurse, I'm actually a CNA whom runs the health room Students and staff call me the school nurse... thats another problem all in its self. I NEVER call myself the school nurse, my title is health assistant. I do correct them but they never listen.

Just because I give meds, do treatments, document, help set up screenings, treat injuries, provide first aid, and etc, etc, etc. I'm still not the school nurse ! I just run the health room and work under a RN who is there 10 % of the time.

Never the less, this forum is great and I can totally relate to everyone here !
