I am at the point of losing my mind !!

Parents are really playing the system where I work. They bring their kids to school sick, feverish, vomiting, diarrhea, whatever...and they want me to approve that they stay home from school. Most have had numerous absences and they are in trouble with the courts because they won't make their kids go to school. So they bring them to me and then sign them in and out and they get credit for a full day of education !:angryfire

It's a game now and they really know how to work the system.

Do you all have these problems ? Thanks for any input you may lend !

I can't say that I've encountered this but I would suggest getting your administration on your side. Can you talk with your principal and perhaps change the way absences are counted so that if the child is never actually in the classroom, they are considered absent? Good luck.

Our day starts at 7:30, ends at 1:51. A student needs to stay until 10:00 to get credit for 1/2 day, 11:30 for a full day. The only true, excused absence is for a religious holiday, not celebrated by the school district (although a death in the family is an unofficial excuse). An MD note helps, but is not an excuse unless they are classfied or have a 504 for a chronic medical problem. The rest go to court after 15 absences, and the judge handles it.
