I'm a proud Nursing Student at URI.

I wonder if anyone here knows anything about this program, as I've just transfered from a school in Virginia.

Anyway, I can't wait to graduate and become a nurse, but it is gonna take a while... I can always eat some Quahogs while I'm waiting.

:) HI

what was your GPA when you were granted admission to URI if you dont mind me asking??

Specializes in Med/Surg.

That was posted in 2003, so I doubt you'll get an answer. I might be able to help you though; URI has not accepted anyone into their program in several years, they closed admission to the nursing program in 2006. Due to backed up clinicals I believe. Not sure when they are reopening their nsg program admission. I go to Rhode Island College, though, and the nsg program there is great.

I will second agree with RhodyGirl (my classmate) on that about going to RIC. I have a friend who goes to URI (and was only accepted after going to the college for 3 years) and she said that although they have a good program the length of time it took to get in was just too long and not worth it. The program at RIC is competitive but I think they have really done a lot of work at making it so people don't have to wait as long to get in (usually only a semester or two if your grades aren't as good.) If memory serves me right both RhodyGirl and I were accepted into the program on our first try (which isn't easy by the way) and that reminds me RhodyGirl that I still am not sure who you are in class.

Good luck Matt trying to figure out where to go and if you have any questions about RIC don't be afraid to ask me (Chris) or RhodyGirl.

URI's nursing program has had open enrollment for quite some time. I transferred into the program for a second bachelors in 2006 without a problem. It's a great program, with great resources.

Interesting. When I was looking into nursing schools in 2005/2006 URI told me they had closed their enrollment to new applicants. UMass Dartmouth told me the same.
