A Ban=Bsn?

Nursing Students ADN/BSN

I found a program that costs 9,000 and will take 2 semesters.

The downside? Its a Ban(Bachelor of Art in Nursing)

I have written on this before(didnt get many responses, but as new members have joined Allnurses will ask again.

Do hiring managers consider a Ban equal to a Bsn?

Do you plan on getting a master's? If so, I would ask if it would matter for getting an MSN if your bachelor's is not a BSN. I honestly think you would be ahead to just get the BSN.

It doesn't make any difference at all when it comes to graduate school.

I am actually quite suprised at the level of ignorance supposed professionals have demonstrated about their own profession in this discussion.

Excuse you? I am not ignorant. I told OP to ask because I wasn't sure and it is something I would look into before getting a BAN. In my area a BAN is unheard of, hospitals and masters programs only mention BSN. I am actually quite surprised at your level of rudeness. By the way, you should check your posts for spelling errors, since you are so much more professional and less ignorant than I.

Didn't say you were. The only comment I made to you was informing you of the fact that a BAN poses no problem what so ever for graduate school.

Yes, I know. I read what you wrote.

In my area a BAN is unheard of,

Do you mean you have never heard of it?

Is that what makes you think those schools and hospitals might have a problem with a BAN? Tell me your area. I will call some hospitals and graduate schools and ask them.

For informing you of the fact that BAN won't make any difference when applying to graduate schools? That is the sole comment I made directed at you.

Yes they do. The are both Bachelors Degrees in Nursing.
I have a BAN. The difference is the elective courses. The nursing curriculum and science courses are the same. My college focused on psycho -social aspects of nursing as well as science aspects. Electives can be in sociology, psychology, etc.
I have held several management positions in nursing such as nursing administrator, outpatient management, as well as supervisory positions. I hope this answers your question. Probably too late for your decision. When being interviewed I’ve only been asked twice what the difference was. I gave the same answer as above. BAN’s are more common in the Midwest colleges.
