QI/QA Pay Scales

Specialties Quality Improvement

Hi, I currently work in QA although I'm not a nurse....yet. I'm going to start nursing school in four weeks.

My job just offered me a considerable raise and I'm trying to decide whether I just take the raise and forego nursing school....at least temporarity.

My question is twofold:

Do QI/QA nurses get paid more considerably than bedside nurses

Given my experience in QA, will I be able to go straight into a clinical QA job

My position is an APN position, I am grateful for my flexible hours but when I come back from vacation my work is waiting for me.

Specializes in geriatrics.

Hi, I also receive less than my colleges make at the bedside.

Specializes in Orthopedic, Pain Management, Psych, Family.

I'm a QA. My pay is the same as every other LPN who works at the LTC facility. However they do work with my school schedule as I'm a student making my way to RN school. Its very hard to find those who are willing to work with your schedule as long as you do your job and make your hours. I also do not get benefits.

Specializes in ER, ICU, Education.

Go to school and finish it, no matter what you do. You will have your degree which no one can take away and it will be there if you decide you want to try nursing.

About ten years ago I was a semester away from finishing my BSN and I almost dropped out to chase another dream (long story). My husband basically threatened me with divorce if I didn't finish. Why? because we'd gone into debit to for school and he wanted me to have something to show for it.

Ten years later I am so glad I listened to him.
