Hi,

There are pros and cons to each way. I truly didn't like med-surge and would have been miserable despite the good learning experience so I went right into psych. My hesitation for a foreign nurse and please forgive me if I am stereotyping but verbal communication is very important in psych nursing and if your language skills aren't really good it could be problematic, imo. Good luck with whatever you decide. Jules

Thank you for your advice...I know it is harder for me being from another country and to start as a RN on any unit but I do undrestand that therapeutic communication is very important on psych. As a student nurse we didn't have to do much but I really loved it.

I really don't know what to do?Which specialty to go in....I feel like I am lost and stuck right now.

i must say that getting some med-surg exp. first would be greatly beneficial to you....also give you time to hone your language skills....

Good Luck
