Bayada Nurses or PSA Healthcare

Specialties Private Duty

Published

I have interviews next week with Bayada Nurses and PSA Healthcare and would like any and all feedback anyone has on either of these companies. What is the interview like? Is the company flexible? How is the pay rate? Basically, would you recommend working for them and why or why not? Also, if you work for another pediatric private duty nursing company that you really like, what is the name of that company? I am from Pennsylvania, but would like to receive feedback from anyone who has information.

Thank you SO MUCH for your help!!!

I had my Interview on Monday with PSA (don't ask me where the time went but the whole Interview process took 2 1/2 hours). You were right about the test but I did have some medication and calculation questions. They were all very friendly and I too have to wait now for my Criminal Background Check. I also got an offer from another company but I am very torn because neither one of them is actually my dream job right now. I'll keep you posted!

Any updates on your job search?

Hi Suichi, just curious, did you ever get the job with PSA? I am thinking of applying with them.

Specializes in NICU.

Hi magnum68. I know your message was sent to Suichi, but I just wanted to let you know that I interviewed, and accepted a position, with PSA Healthcare. I will be working for them full-time for the next month and then PRN after I start my new dream job!!

Anyway, everything with PSA has gone well so far. They pay a little better than some of the other home health agencies in my area too, so that is nice.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi magnum68!

Sorry I didn't get back earlier...I was out of the country until Sunday. I have my orientation with PSA this upcoming Thursday, so we will see..... Did you apply with them?

@BabyNurseBecky:

That is fantastic. I am happy for you. How was the orientation? Was it helpful?

Have a great day!

Specializes in Home Health.

Congratulations Babynursebecky!!!!!! I just filled out an application for PSA today. How long did the process take and how did your orientation go? Also how was the interview? Thanks

Congrats Babynursebecky!!!!!!:yeah: I just recently applied with PSA. How was the interview? How long did the process take from the time you applied and How did your orientation go? I would really like to know what to expect. Thanks

Suichi,

Congrats to you to!!!!!:yeah: How was your experience with PSA?

Specializes in Sub-Acute.
I work for Bayada for 2 years now and love it. They are VERY professional and I was given all the orientation time I needed. The pay is fair. They are good about resolving issues and listening to you too. Try them!

I start with Bayada this week. Orientation on Wed. They already have a case for me. After 15 months with an ECF (Sub-acute, long-term) I am ready for one-on-one. Went into work last week and was assigned all of the patients on sub acute with an admission. That is crazy, worked to hard for my lisence. Great to hear you have had a good experience with Bayada!

Specializes in behavioral health.

I know the only two agencies that I would qualify are PSA or MAXIM. The only experience that I have is in Psych. I tried a nursing home, but it was too much for me. I just don't have the stamina for those ratios, and I was always overstressed. I have been on disability, and worked during flu season giving injections.

I need a job that is low stress and not physical. Also, one that is PT, at least to start with. I just need to have plenty of rest, and I think that FT may be overwhelming to start with. I am revisiting the idea of applying to Maxim, again. I know their reputation for the most part is not great. Also, it depends on the individual office.

We do have Bayada, but they require one or two years of med-surg experience.

Specializes in Telemetry.

Hmmm...I have an interview with PSA healthcare but I am scared. The pay is not good and it is per diem. How can one offer a new nurse 19/h per diem? This is not good. What should I do?

Agree that the pay offered to you is low since you are an RN. Depending on the area, RNs are usually offered at a minimum, $24 an hour for home health extended care. PSA and Maxim have poor reputations and are not recommended unless you are desperate for work. If you could go with Bayada, they generally have a good reputation. Good luck.

Hi BabyNurseBecky, I live in PA too and I am scheduled for the interview with PSA healthcare. After reading all the comments from this thread regarding PSA healthcare, I have a second thought of getting this job. I am a new graduate nurse and it's so hard to find a job right now so I thought I might give this a try. I hope you can help me with all my questions regarding this company, i just want to have some insight about this job. How was the interview? Do you still work with them and how did you like it? how much did they pay per hour? Can you pls tell us how was your typical day at work?

Anybody who have worked for PSA healthcare, pls discuss your experience with them.

Thanks.

Try a search of the site for opinions of PSA. They are there.

I am a new grad, and I had gone EVERYWHERE filling out applications. I went to nursing homes, hospitals, HH's...everywhere imaginable. On a Saturday afternoon I get a phone call from a HH agency and i was stoked!! She asked me if I could go in Monday morning for an interview, and I thought, "yes!finally!" So I go in, and this DON was talking a million miles a minute and I had no idea what she was talking about. She never mentioned private duty or anything but kept mentioning "shifts". I was confused bc i thought HH nurses did visits. Anywho, she never "offered" me the position, rather she just walked me to HR to fill out paperwork. She didn't even discuss pay with me or anything! I know I could've/should've stood up for myself, but i was so confused at this point. I went to orientation the next day and after all the boring videos was sent to her office again, where she proceeded to tell me about the pt i was going to be visiting. She didn't tell me the hours or anything, until i finally asked her wth was going on. I was to report to pts house the next morning with my preceptor. Ok, i thought, cool. I 'm starting already! I showed up the following morning, only to find my preceptor was a noshow. I called the office at 830 and .....get this.....they tell me to ADMINISTER THE MORNING MEDS! and wait for a nurse to show!! umm...that would be a negative! i just got my lisence, i'm not about to lose it without even getting my first paycheck!! so needless to say, I trained with them for 2 days and bailed. It wasn't for me. Then I got a phone call from PSA. I really wasn't feeling this private duty thing, but the more i think about it, the better it is. I'm planning on doing my LVN to RN transition through the college network. I've read an alarming amount of negative remarks regarding PSA but it sounded alright. The pay isnt the best, but right now, either noone is hiring, or their pay is "alright". At this point, I just need to take what comes my way. I'll be furthing my education and hopefully finishing the RN program within the year. My official interview is tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes.
