Are you taking the summer off?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi! I have been debating whether to take a break this summer or to keep on pushing through. I just finished busting my behind through AP 1 & 2 (and working fulltime) so a couple months off until fall would be nice, but at the same time I just want to keep going!

If I were to take classes this summer it would be Nutrition and Medical Terminology. 8 week courses.

Anyone taking the summer off, or is it smarter to get trucking along?

BTW...whether I take the summer off or not, it doesn't affect my application date for the program..:)

I am off for the summer! I work part time as a Geriatric Social Work Case Manager so that will be it for me other than time with my kidlets. I only need Physiology and Microbiology which I will take Fall and Spring and then apply next May for the RN program. It would do me no good to take the classes any faster or add summer classes since I can't apply til May 2011 anyway. I am just going to psych myself up for the next round of science torture, 4-6 hours on my a** studying a day, UGH it is a killer!

I am taking the summer off myself.... working full time, going to school full time and having a family is hard enough. You owe it to yourself to take a break every now and then. Do it while you can. If you keep going without a break, and you get accepted right away, you'll wish you had some "me" time before you commit yourself for those two grueling years. :)

Me too. I've been back in school since Fall '08 - nonstop. I saved easier classes for the summer semesters (Psych, Soc, etc) but decided I really needed a break this summer. I feel a bit guilty about it, but it will not affect my RN program start date so I figured I'd take the break while I can. I'm a single mother and I really owe it to my kids (ages 17 and 10) to give them my undivided attention for a few months. :)

Thanks for the responses. I have heard different things about Nutrition. Some say easy...some say not so much.

Have you taken chem and o-chem yet? If you have then nutrition is basically a review of those 2 classes with a little anatomy and physio thrown in. The only hard part about nutrition is metabolism (which isn't that bad)

Hi

Take the summer off and enjoy- I am because I am exhausted!:)

I am personally going to take the summer off. I am going to be having a baby in June and I dont want my grades to suffer because of it or my children to suffer because of school. I have 3 other kids also and I think it would just be too much.

You really would have to evaluate your own situation and how you feel and if you feel that you need the break. GL with your decision!
