I'm taking A&P 1 right now along with algebra and English comp. I have to be honest I am freaking out a little bit. I've only had one class so far(I'm doing 1 day a week A&P with lecture and lab for 4 hours each class cuz I have such a long drive) and we pretty much did a lot of intro stuff and we started on the different bones an sutures of the skull and my teacher only got half way through them and according to the schedule she gave us I have a test on all the skull bones plus the vertebrae on Monday... Ack! My teacher is super nice but her English is very broken, she talks super fast and quite frankly she seems a little scatter brained. So it feels like I am having to self teach at this point. I just hope I can make it through the semester with some sanity! LOL

I'm so glad my school doesn't require algebra for nursing!
I'm only taking dosage and calculations with A&P (its 1 & 2 combined) because I'm also an older "returning" student and because a&p is a HUGE part of getting into the program. I'm dedicating the most concentration to that first.
Im trying to take hard classes with easier classes so I don't overwhelm myself.

@[COLOR=#003366]Abigail612 I was able to take Microbiology as at my school A&P is reccomended but not required, only cellular biology is the pre-req. Thank you so much for all the wonderful replies! I decided to take A&P 1, Intro to Soc, Intermediate Algebra and Ethics. I'm feeling confident in my course picks and am so so excited to start the term! Summer has been a lovely break but I am more than ready to immerse myself in books.

    Summer 2012 - Anatomy, Psychology, Phlebotomy & Healthy Lifestyles - 8.5 weeks, 12 credits

Fall 2012 - Physiology, Microbiology, Microbiology Lab (separate class), Pharmacology, Intro to Health Professions and Human Growth/Development - 17 weeks, 17 credits

Yes, I'm busy!!! No, I'm not working while attempting that many courses at once. I think you can do anything you set your mind to doing. You just have to budget your study time wisely. I have a 4.0 GPA...so far, so good

When I took A&P I also took statistics, modern social problems, and Psychology. I had two B's and two A's at the end of the semester. IMO when taking sciences it is always a little overwhelming lol

Your fall semester sounds a lot like mine. I'm taking Anatomy, Microbiology, Human Growth and Development, Composition 2 and my CNA class. Yikes! But I am so determined to make it work. And then I get to apply for schools in January

Yes! We're both busy, aren't we? I would hate having to take an English class with all that science. It's like you have to think with the "other" side of your brain...LOL I was supposed to finish my Phlebotomy Externship this semester, but I just couldn't devote the 18 hours per week at the hospital in addition to taking that many classes. So, I'm subbing Intro to Health Professions instead (we learn to do vitals, BP, simple assessments, etc.) I'll finish my externship in January, but taking Intro to HP will give me bonus points on my nursing school application for our CC's ADN program.

Keep me posted on how you're doing! Isn't nice to know that we're DONE with pre-reqs after this busy semester?

I took A&P 1 and 2 over the summer by themselves. Both sessions were 5 weeks and I made both As.
